OoB had some strange annoyances. Such as weakend units becoming very resiliant. Supply loss (stuck units) because of suicide squads that try to cut you off. The campaigns were rather short. In my opinion Panzer Corps 2 is such an improvement over OoB that I do not expect to play OoB again.

I love both Panzer Corps 2 and the Order of Battles series. Both games are a lot of fun to play.

But I think that their is one huge difference between the two games. The biggest difference between the two games in my opinion is the front lines feature that the Order of Battles series has compared to Panzer Corps 2. Panzer Corps 2 only has line of sight for your units. It has no front lines in front of your units.

That is one of the biggest reasons I enjoy playing the Order of Battle series is because of the front lines feature. It's really nice to know where your front lines are at all times in front of your units while playing on the battlefields. It would be nice if that feature was added as an option in Panzer Corps 2. I think just that one feature alone would really add a lot to make Panzer Corps 2 a better game.

Cheers

Steve :D

I am enjoying PC2 a lot. I’ve played almost all the DLC for OOB and find both games enjoyable. I’m leaning in favor of PC2 right now. What I am enjoying the most is that I have not found the PC2 campaign to be as bug ridden as most of the OOB campaigns. In OOB I was forced to learn how to use the scenario/campaign editor to make many of the DLC’s playable. Sure most of the Bugs got fixed in time but some took about 6 months to get to where they should have been upon release. Outside of a few niggles, PC2 so far has been AOK, at least in the Western Front campaign up to Normandy. I will admit that the last OOB campaign was pretty ok on release so maybe this reflects a general upwards trend in Slitherine releases. Let us hope so.

That was my main problem with OoB as well. While the supply system was more detailed, it didn't play well with other mechanics. It was rare I would get to use it, but it seemed there was always an unkillable 1 strength routed unit that was happy to cut off my entire force and stall my advance. And with fewer units on the field, it wasn't like you could afford to guard your supply centers.

For me, a big advantage of PC2 is that you can back up your front line units with artillery units that automatically give fire support on their own initiative if the boys up front are attacked, but you can't do that in OOB.

TY all for your contributions what I think is coming out is that if we can merge the best mechanics of those games both will gain a lot in appeal and playability.
A second point for PC2 in my view is to improve the maritime warfare which is much better in OOB, or focus PC2 on land battles only.
Another suggestion is to make unit sprites size for PC2 more homogeneous (some light tanks are bigger than tigers... some torpedoboats seem battleships)
One last recommendation for modders and game developers: produce as many scenarios and campaigns in all possible theaters of WW2 as it was done for PC1 and OOB and PC2 will become the game of the century.

Agree, PC2's naval action needs work. To be fair OOB did start off as a Pacific War game, would be a bit embarrassing if it wasn't. Still nothing is as bad as Panzer Strategy's naval mechanics.

A major (and very welcome) difference between PC2 and OOB is the fact that in PC2 arty units give automatic supporting fire on their own initiative to nearby units under attack, something that OOB arty doesn't do.

Yeah but I don't suppose there's any way for the devs to get round that (bless their little cotton socks) because if everything was drawn to scale, smaller units would be almost impossible to see.

True, understand 3D graphic is more tricky but in OOB (2D) the proportionality is somehow respected
