TT Mod version 1.5.28 now available!

The TT mod has now been updated to cover the latest 1.5.28 game patch.

This is only a minor update, the main point of it is to fix two small bugs that were noticed in the previous 1.5.18 version.

These are;

1) Corrected scenario scripts for the Cretopolis scenario to prevent a rout percentage level calculation bug.

2) Anglo-Danish banner allocation corrected.

Other minor changes are as follows:

3) Macedonian Pike units changed to normal quality levels. ie: Leukaspides now Raw instead of Below Average, Chakaspides now Average, Agema Superior instead of Highly Superior.

4) Ligurians armour rating increased to Protected from Lightly protected.

5) Extra Bactrian Pike Phalanx texture (Texture1) deleted, as it was identical to the main texture.

6) Hispanic Heavy Cavalry renamed to Iberian Noble Cavalry.

7) Pict Light Javelin Horse name changed to Pictish Light Javelin Horse.

8) All Sub Roman units name changed to Sub-Roman to match vanilla FOG2 Sub-Roman unit.

9) Ghazi Foot increased to 60 points in line with vanilla patch.

10) Takabara and Nomad Irregular Foot shield textures changed.

11) Allies corrected for Cypriot 549 - 490BC army.

12) Deleted TT Mod units that have now been incorporated into the vanilla game. This has had the benefit of making the mod slightly smaller.

13) Other changes made to bring TT mod lists into line with 1.5.28 vanilla update changes.

14) Added a SCENARIOS folder,to make it easier for people to create scenarios.

How to use in MP:

When you are in the Multiplayer Create New Challenge screen click on Create Skirmish:

A special credit is due to 'Little Big Men Studios' for most of the new shield and banner designs in this mod. Stephen Hales (of Little Big Men Studios) has given Paul Adaway permission to use these for this user mod only and no company may take these designs for use without his permission or for sale in any way.

Am I correct saying that I can play both the vanilla and TT MP games in the challenge lobby? Or do I need two different installations?

You can do both. But in MP both players need to be using the same version of TT Mod.

You must follow the TT Mod installation instructions precisely. The TT Mod MP folder must be pasted into your My Documents/My Games/FieldOfGlory2/MULTIPLAYER folder. You can then play vanilla and TT Mod games.

The mod system for FOG2 works very differently to most other games, FOG2 mods do not overwrite the main game, they are just selected when you want to play them.

When you want to issue a TT Mod MP challenge you must click the Select Another Module button:

Then select the TT Mod:

The Custom battle screen should then look like this:

Then just continue to select your armies etc as normal.

Hi Paul ! Thank you for your wonderful work on this mod ! Just a question though : what about the Global version of the TT mod ? The one that can be used with converted FOG Empires battles ?

I’m using your 1.5.18 TT Global Mod with a modified version of FOGE, do you know if you could update this version of the mod so I could benefit from the update ? It would be very cool, using your mod in combination with my own mod for FOGE is awesome !

But I don't really think it would be worthwhile. This was only a very minor update, and the two most important changes (ie; the two bug fixes) don't affect Empires battles at all.

Looking at the list of changes, the only other things that might affect Empires battles are:

3) Macedonian Pike units changed to normal quality levels. ie: Leukaspides now Raw instead of Below Average, Chakaspides now Average, Agema Superior instead of Highly Superior? I'm not sure if that would actually affect Empires battles, aren't the unit quality ratings determined by Empires rather than FOG2?

4) Ligurians armour rating increased to Protected from Lightly protected.

10) Takabara and Nomad Irregular Foot shield textures changed. This was a very minor graphical change, and the old shield designs are just as good.

If you really did want to incorporate the Macedonian Pike and Ligurians changes into the Global mod, all you would have to do is copy the Squads.csv file from the new TT Mod v1.5.28 and paste it into your Global TT Mod folder, overwriting the old Squads.csv file.

I was replying to a question that FrenchDude was asking about the Global Mod version of the TT Mod.

It was only released to help other modders create FOG Empires mods. On it's own it is not a working mod!

The TT_Mod_Global_ModV1.5.18 already has all of the textures that are in the TT Mod 1.5.28, apart from the Takabara and Nomad Foot, and as I said before those changes are not worth worrying about.

Thank you ! I didn't even think about that simple solution !

About quality ratings : The FOGE Quality level of a unit when translated to FOG2 is also impacted by the base quality level of the FOG2 unit.

For example : A roman republican Hastati/Principes unit is "above average" in FOG2, so even if it is impacted by FOGE's unit's"health"/experience, it'll still be (at normal experience/health and when both armies taking part in the battle have the same advantages), an "above average" unit when translated to FOG2.
One way to tweak the base quality of a FOG2 unit in Empires is to modify the quality value in the UNITS.csv of FOGE. I don't know if my explanation is clear, but anyways, thanks for the update
