Very slow/erratic mouse control
Very slow/erratic mouse control
I have found suddenly that the mouse moves slowly and erraticaly over the battles. I have tried several mice but they all seem to have the same problem, but work normally outside of the game. I did download a number of campaigns/battles before this happened. Any ideas that spring to mind?
Re: Very slow/erratic mouse control
always hardware or background software, but a report may help understand more on this,
How to get a DirectX Diagnostic file:
1. click on "START"
2. click "run"
3. type in "dxdiag" and click "OK"
4. check through the tabs and perform all tests
5. click "Save all Information..." and save the text file to a location of your choice
We prefer that DxDiag files be posted as message attachments rather than pasted into the body of the post.
once the report has been made, just attach it to your post with first adding the file to a zip, which is then permitted to attach to the forum

I am a wrinkly and struggle with that without offspring present to advise. I will uninstall/reinstall and see how that works out.

Have you begun to play larger battles? What are the values for your Shadow and AA in the settings page in-game?

Reinstalled and cut down shadows to normal from high ,and AA to 2.Working much better now, strange that I haven't had the problem until now, having played the game since it was released. Thanks for the help.

Re: Very slow/erratic mouse control
I have the same problem. Been playing AA4 and low shadows since launch with no problems on battles and campaigns of all sizes and since the middle of last week suddenly the game has become unplayable. The mouse moves very slowly and jumps around even on small battles and on menu screens. Menus and pop ups take ages to get the mouse to click in the right place. The only things that changed around the time the game became unplayable was the manual changing of the Alexander Campaign folder name and the installation of the Chandragupta campaign. I am about to install today's update to see if that fixes it.

Assuming you were not auto-updated by Steam, it could be a driver update or Windows update, or even an AV update. Take a look at your Windows Update log and see if anything stands out.

The 1.1.8 update didn't fix it, but reinstalling video driver did. Not sure why video driver should suddenly stop working correctly for one game.

Re: Very slow/erratic mouse control
Hi, just purchased the game an I'm have the very same problem with a very slow mouse. Tried various AA settings and won't help. All my other matrix/slitherine games are running just fine including Segoku Jidai, War in the East and all other titles I have. First time I'm having such an issue. Video driver is up to date.
Win7 8GB RAM i5 @2.5 integrated HD 4000 or Nvidia (both cards give the same result)
Any idea ?

dual display on a HD Graphics 4000, so a laptop with an external screen attached?
surprised it even works tbh
base memory = 4928 after what's shared with the video, ram is total system ram
1 GB DirectX 9 Compatible Graphics Card, not onboard with shared Graphics, no Nvidia drivers loaded or installed so not working
cpu, is a cut down I5, almost a I3 and doing the work of a GPU as well, so even slower, i'd recommend running off mains, not battery, turning off all power saving mode, which only save the battery by turning down the cpu eg slowing it down, turning down the whole Graphics in game to the lowest settings and also removing all items from the laptop start up before playing the game, freeing up as much system resources as possible. see if there's any updates for the laptop, as it's Intel drivers, so update everything to latest version
then and only then install the correct drivers for the Nvidia card if it's installed, as atm there are none installed, so game won't work with it, so not surprised it's given errors as it is, i'm sorry to say,...

Re: Very slow/erratic mouse control
Thanks. Will try to turn off everything I can before running the game. In the mean time, yes, it's a laptop with external monitor (extended display).
But regarding the NVidia, it is installed. And drivers are up to date. No idea why dxdiag says it's not ...

Re: Very slow/erratic mouse control
Regarding the Nvidia it's probably because I need to select it manually and when I performed the dxdiag test I was running on the HD4000.
Re: Very slow/erratic mouse control
just to be sure it's working in game,
and then,
while the game is running etc
once the game is on, it should show in the history graph a past use, if it used etc, as most slowdowns with dual GPU use, shows it's not used etc

Re: Very slow/erratic mouse control
Unfortunately I don't think that Win7 task manager will indicated GPU activity ... Will try to find an alternative software. Anyway, if the problem is due to my old computer, then there's not a lot I can do but optimize it. The bizarre thing is that the game is running smoothly, for example when scrolling with the keyboard or zooming, or when units are moving. I have 27 FPS with is correct for a turnbased game. Just the mouse is very slow, like if it was due to a mouse setting. All the rest is OK.
ps: and of course, the mouse works normally in all any other game/software.

Re: Very slow/erratic mouse control
Just gave it a new try with an optimized system (killed all unecessary processes after a fresh reboot.
The problem is clearly not dur to my system GPu/CPU. The map scrolling is hyper fast (even too fast for my taste. My FPS is 30/35. Everything works perfectly weel except the mouse. You know, like if it was setup to move slowly (there's such a speed setup in windows). Very weird.

Re: Very slow/erratic mouse control
OK, I played with my GPU settings and I found a combinaition that seems to help a bit and make the game playable. Not perfect but OK
