FOGII Fatal Exception
FOGII Fatal Exception
Hi,
I recently purchased the FOG II bundle with the base game and all 5 add-ons. I downloaded each and then did each patch to bring it to 1.5.23. When I attemtpt to start the game, I get the following Unhandled exception:
***UnhandledException: ExpCode: 0xc0000005 ExpFlags: 0 ExpAddress: 0x61214c19 Please Report.
How do I fix this? Thanks.

Re: FOGII Fatal Exception
Please can you post the error.log file that you will find in /Documents/My Games/FieldOfGlory2
Also your DxDiag report.
Also which version of the game you are using - Slitherine standalone, STEAM or GOG?

Re: FOGII Fatal Exception
1) Type DxDiag into the Windows search box.
2) Click on DxDiag Run Command
3) Click on Save All Information
4) Attach the saved DxDiag.txt file here

Re: FOGII Fatal Exception
I will draw attention to your issue to the technical support department. However, you would also be wise to email them on support@slitherine.co.uk for personal attention. Also supply the DxDiag file as per the above instructions.

Re: FOGII Fatal Exception
I could not attach the DxDiag file for some reason. (improper file extension....?). I tried copying and pasting it but it is too large.

Re: FOGII Fatal Exception
I just noticed something. The downloads for the first item in the bundle under Field of Glory II includes downloads for 1.5.23, 1.5.12 and the Manual Abstract. 1.5.12 is also the download listed under "Wolves at the Gate". That doesn't seem right to me. Shouldn't I have a separate download for the base game?

Re: FOGII Fatal Exception
If you .zip it you can probably attach it. Failing that, could you please copy and paste as much of it as you can. We really do need it to look into your issue.

Re: FOGII Fatal Exception
No. There is only one download for the whole build. The DLCs are unlocked by their serial codes.jimgiven wrote: ↑Mon Jan 06, 2020 12:40 am I just noticed something. If you try reinstalling again, you only need to use the v1.5.12 installer and the v1.5.23 updater. You don't have to use any other installers or updaters.

Re: FOGII Fatal Exception
So does it fail to start entirely, or do you get to the main menu in-game?

Reinstalled...same problem. I noted that when I installed 1.5.12 and tried to start, the main menu (which does appear in all cases Pip) it shows the "Wolves at the Gate" background. regardless, I re-installed but got the same error. I attached the DxDiag file.

So when you get to the main menu (in-game, rather than the launcher) what button do you press to cause the game to crash?

Re: FOGII Fatal Exception
So it is not getting into the game, you are just seeing the launcher. Can you look in Documents/My Games/FieldOfGlory2 and see if there is an options file. If so, try deleting it before running the game to see if that helps.

Thanks Pip but no luck. I deleted the "options" file but get the same error.

Re: FOGII Fatal Exception
Can you please open the options file and see whether the values for REZX and REZY match up with your screen resolution. If they do not then please change them to be correct and try again.
If that does not help, try changing the value of FULLSCREEN to 0, and the value of SOUND to 0.
Note that you should edit the file with the game closed, and rerun each time to test the effectiveness.
Cheers

Re: FOGII Fatal Exception
Sorry we haven't yet been able to work out the problem. The trace isn't very useful, but it looks like it is crashing somewhere in the video driver. Give the following a try:
+ change the rezx and rezy values to 1024 and 768 respectively (leaving fullscreen and sound both as zero).
+ try pulling out your network cable before running the game in case there is some networking or firewall oddness going on.
Cheers

Re: FOGII Fatal Exception
You don't need to repurchase it to get the STEAM version. Your Slitherine/Matrix game key doubles as a STEAM key.
