Elamites

Vs Armoured Hoplites (Vs Greeks 680-461BC)

Greek Side

Shows up to battle with an army based around light chariots. Getting to the only light chariot friendly area on the whole map involves squeezing through a one square gap between mountain and swamp then across a stream. That's how you know the map generation truly hates you.
Exactly! ;) It's like a computer game inside a computer game: squeeze through the narrow gap between the dark mountain and the deep swamp, then swim cross a white water stream, and THEN defeat the evil wizard (sorry, Ludendorf :) ).

Your only mistake was forgetting to bribe the slingers with the golden coins that you get from the monkeys paw found deep within the swamp. They then unlock the way to the Plains of Cavalryness which allow you to defeat the Golden Spear Guardians from behind. The Golden Spear Guardians drop water which you then pour on the Evil Wizard, melting him and allowing you to claim victory.

Wait, I forgot. Is this Field of Glory or a rough summary of the average 90's point and click adventure game?

The latter, at least in some scenarios.
