It is with regret that I have to announce that the heroic defenders of Arkhosia were unable to prevail against the uncouth and uncivilized invaders from Drangiane. 40-13
This also regretfully means that you have been eliminated and will not continue to divide the spoils, Doyley50. Many thanks for your participation and hope you enjoyed the tournament and the games played!

I announce with great pleasure that carpenkm and the anti-Deeter have agreed to a truce as he has agreed to cease his attack on the lands of TomoeGozen.

Deeter
So you have agreed to a 0-0 draw in the battle between you too?

Yes. Peace and Happiness has spread across Syria as troops withdraw to their pre-war positions. A 0-0 draw in the match between me and TomoeGozen too, where I had a rather strong defensive position, but too many mediums to be tempted off down to the plains to face the pikes.

I can also report that Snuggle Bunnies has seen the error of his ways and has withdrawn from Media on seeing the impressive wall of spear lined on rough hill behind a deep stream. Draw agreed.

Ironclad attacks carpenkm in Media, using the army of Hyrkania.

I am happy to report that the Media Defence Force has repulsed the attack on their land by the Hyrkanian aggressors. 47 -20.

The Median Pikes stood strong and despite my opponents best efforts to flank Nomad Horse Archers held well. Thanks for a good game.

7. kronenblatt attacks carpenkm in Media using the army of Atropatene and Georgian allies.

=> carpenkm draws with kronenblatt 40-19.

This draw, in combination with carpenkm's draw in battle 8 (against SnuggleBunnies) and win in battle 11 (against Ironclad) means that he gains the satrapy of Atropatene and that yet another of the Diadochi is eliminated; kronenblatt.

These two battles are still unconcluded, and the participants will play the turns that can be played during the weekend and halt on Sunday evening, and their respective situations reported.

Then next round will commence on Tuesday.

Round 3 (318 BC): attack declarations

Post by kronenblatt » Sun Oct 10, 2021 8:21 pm

Order of attack declarations (based on highest inflicted casualties in the previous round)
1. Warg1 (64) Oct. 12
2. Malabar26 (52) Oct. 13
3. Aetius39 (40) Oct. 14
4. Ironclad (20) Oct. 15
5. SnuggleBunnies (0, 47) Oct. 16
6. carpenkm (0, 40) Oct. 17
7. TomoeGozen (0, 14) Oct. 18
8. deeter (0) Oct. 19
  • Supports of other attackers (B) or defenders (C) are possible, and not only outright attacks of your own (A).
  • So now may be the time to discuss and negotiate with other players on the course they're planning, maybe agreeing on joint actions, and so on. Or maybe not...
  • Please just read up carefully on the rules (in particular the Attacks and Effects of battle outcome parts) and be aware that players may not always do what they say...
  • Attack declarations are posted in this thread.
  • Please express attack declarations in the way the following examples show:
Outright attack (A): rbodleyscott attacks kronenblatt, using the army of Gedrosia and Indian 500 BC - 319 AD allies. Attacker satrapy Babylonia, defender satrapy Mesopotamia.
Support of attacker (B): Aetius39 supports the attack of rbodleyscott upon Mesopotamia, using the army of Armenia and Georgian 331 BC - 252 AD allies. Supporting satrapy Kappadokia.
Support of defender (C): Karvon supports the defence of kronenblatt in Mesopotamia, using the army of Aigyptos and Kyrenean Greek 321-276 BC allies. Supporting satrapy Syria.
  • Date (midnight CET+1 (Pella) time) above indicates deadline, after which opportunity for you to declare attack is forfeited and the player next in line may declare his attack.
  • Once you have declared an attack, please PM the player next in line, who will then be free to declare his attack, up to his deadline, so we all don't need to wait for each player's deadline.
In case any of you have any questions (which I'm sure you have, no problems :) ), please post them in this thread in order for everyone else to see the question as well as the answer.

I'm also changing the rules in line with the following (from this post, with effect in this round 3):
If there's an equal number of wins (still with the rule that a player can never count as victor more than once in all his battles connected with an original attack and its satrapies-at-stake), the victory goes to the side with the largest number of players (and if equal number of players on both sides, will end in a draw). So for example, if a player's attack is supported by another player so that they're two against one defender, and the defender wins one of the battles and loses the other (with 1-1 in wins), the defender will still lose overall, since the attacker side has more players (2) than his side (1). And in another example, if a player's attack is supported by two other players so that they're three against one defender, and the defender wins two of the battles and loses the other (ending up with 1-1 in wins since each player can count only one win), the defender will still lose overall, since the attacker side has more players (3) than his side (1).

Thus, the following has been added to the rules (under Effects of battle outcome):
  • For the attacker or the defender in the original attack to gain the other player's satrapy-at-stake, one of the following must apply:
    1. the number of victors among him and the players supporting him is higher than the number of victors among the other player and the players supporting the other player, or
    2. if the number of victors is the same on both sides, the number of players on his side (i.e., he plus the players supporting him) is higher than the number of players on the other side .
  • If none of 1 and 2 above applies, the attacker and the defender retain control over their respective satrapies-at-stake.
A player can still never count as victor more than once in all his battles connected with an original attack and its satrapies-at-stake, despite how many battles he actually won.

Please look in The Rules for more details and post any questions here.
