Richard was unlucky being given a flat battlefield leaving his Thracians exposed to the heavy foot of the Poles and a flanking attempt on the Thracian left by the Polish Cavalry was delayed just long enough by the inferior Polish horse to let the Polish heavy foot cut through the Medium infantry they faced.

Karvon - Armenian 477-627 AD drew vs rbodleyscott - Roman 280-220 BC 38-26 for a score of 2-2.

A medium sized steep hill on the Roman left was the focal point. The Romans shifted their forces left of that hill and advanced around it while the Armenians skirmished with them and advanced to the right of the hill and around it, a circular chase. While the Romans managed to catch a few of our foot, we shot down more of theirs, but not enough to matter before night fell.

Kroche Bohemian 1155-1199AD defeated Karvon Frankish 260-495AD 42-12

A hilly and wooded map did not allow the Frankish warbands to engage across the line. Bohemian knights with superior armour and heavy horse were able to eventually grind the Franks down and break them, while taking heavy casualties themselves. Thanks for the game Karvon and for organising this fun tournament (less fun when I lose)

Those knights were an immense pain in the backside to deal with because of their overwhelming superiority to medium foot on open ground. But superior numbers, good fortune and favourable terrain allowed me to eke out a victory. Good game to rbodleyscott!

devoncop ( Campanian) drew with Kroche (serbian) 41-55%

Thanks to Kieran for a very interesting game over a complicated map where the Campanian foot on the hilly left managed to just delay the Serbian warband host long enough for the success of the Campanian cavalry on the right to force a draw before the Campanian infantry was finally overrun. Serbians were definitely in the stronger position at game end but I will take the draw against a more skilful opponent.

I thought this was a cool matchup but favourable for the Carthaginians. My opponent played it smart but I was able to get my elephants into position to really tip this battle my way. They were really the difference and something the Byzantines couldn't handle in close combat. A really fun match against a good player.

Teutonic foot deployed in a large farming complex and adjoining grove. Knights deployed behind the grove in reserve. Small cavalry force deployed to screen right flank. Tuaregs deployed a lot camel and a few supporting foot. We initially sortied out with our skirmishers on our left beyond the grove and shifted our horse to support them from our right. The Tuaregs initially advanced aggressively against our skirmishers and slowly towards the farming complex. Our skirmishers got the better of them and rather than chase them into range of our crossbows in the grove and farm, the Tuaregs began to fall back on our left and decided they wanted no part of the farm and shifted back and to our left to support their retreat. Our crossbows sallied out of the grove to lend support to the skirmishers harassing his retreat and our knights rumbled out from behind the grove to help cover these. We shot up and chased down enough of his right wing to salvage 2 pts just before night fell.

Good game to my opponent. The Picts smartly took control of the main hill and sat there waiting for the Ptolemies to muster the nerve to charge up the slopes. Tired from their long boat ride on the Evergiven, the Ptolemies spent much time skirmishing until they drove off enough light archers to feel safe moving forward. The Pictish light cavalry buzzed around their flanks like flies, but the Ptolemaic phalanx and Gabiani strolled up the hill and started slaughtering light spearmen. The thorakitai fared not nearly so well, and had the Pictish spears held a little longer, the Ptolemaic mediums would have been wrapped up and the battle evened out a bit. Alas, the cohesion rolls of the Pictish spears brought the battle to a rapid end.
