Re: Little Wars III Tourney
Apologies all, I'm afraid I have bitten off more than I can chew in match commitments and must withdraw from Little Wars; I am still committed to Wars of Gods and Men, Dividing the Spoils, Chaos Tourney, and the League, and 10 more matches is more than I can handle.
I will end any started matches. Sorry again about the last minute notice!

Giacofa93 [Spanish (Sertorius) 80-70 BC] beats Sawyerk [Jewish 64 BC - 6 AD with Roman 105-25 BC ally] 46-20
The two armies clashed between a hill and the sea. The vast majority of the troops, comprised of medium and light foot, battled in the rough hill, while the respective contingents of legionary clashed on the small strip of open ground between that and the sea. The legionaries of Sertorius were flanked and were about to collapse, in spite of a slight advantage in height. But the heavy spanish caetrati made the most of their impact abilities, disrupting many of the enemy medium foot, and won the day just in time to save their heavier companions.

Flockaveli (Dailami) beats Sawyerk (Jewish 64 BC - 6 AD with Roman 105-25 BC ally) 43-0
The Dailami foot smashed into the Thureophoroi line in the desert rough and the initial impact charge overwhelmed the spearmen. The Jewish and Roman center collapsed in a cascading rout before their flanks could complete what looked to be a devastating pincer maneuver.

My thanks to flockaveli for the kind comment but 'inept' is a more appropriate word than 'devastating' for whatever attack I had ongoing.Flockaveli wrote: ↑Thu Sep 30, 2021 10:55 pm Flockaveli (Dailami) beats Sawyerk (Jewish 64 BC - 6 AD with Roman 105-25 BC ally) 43-0

Aetius39 (Carthaginians) defeats LyndsayCole (Romans) 59-0
The Romans put up more of a fight than the score suggests, but the Carthaginians managed to get to his massed archers quick and break them, then the flanks came. GG!

Karvon with Arab (city) with Sassanid 477 allies drew vs olddog52 Byz 963-987 w Arab- Syria/Iraq 890-1008 36-26 for a score of 1-1
We Arabs initially deployed behind a large hill dominating the center. The Byzantines deployed a line opposite it with their left secured by woods. A river blocked off our left. We initially sent our lights supported by a medium foot to secure the hill and pushed our spears around the right side. Our elephant and lancers we kept in reserve to left hidden behind the hill. A couple of light horse scouted a head of the army. Our plan was to try to draw in the Byzantine line to engage our spears while our lights and medium foot pushed thru the woods on our right. Once the enemy was engaged, our mounted reserve would unleash to take them in the flank.
They Byzantines were cautious and didn't advance very quickly in the center, so we were forced to advance a bit further than we planned to engage them. While we did pin them down, they held up pretty well vs our spear and some of their horse managed to flank and collapse the right end of our line. However, our own lancers and elephant collapsed the right end of their line as well, but weren't able to fully exploit that due to nightfall.
Our attempt to clear the woods was thwarted due to the intervention of a couple of Byzantine heavy foot. We did clear their lights, but lost most of our own in the process and couldn't quite finish off some bowmen before darkness fell.

Aetius39 (Carthaginian) defeats Flockaveli (Dailami) 43-0
Much harder than the score suggests, the Dailami tried to swarm over the much less numerous Carthaginians. With some luck and the hill they were on, they succeeded in routing the Dailami forces. GG and good try in attempting to break the defense!^^

Foolishly, the Dailami commander neglected to bring any missile troops, and so was forced to assault the Carthaginians' well-chosen defenses. His mistake is already being taught at the Dailami war college. GG!Aetius39 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 04, 2021 7:05 am Aetius39 (Carthaginian) defeats Flockaveli (Dailami) 43-0

Karvon. Arab (city) with Sassanid 477 allies defeated Sawyerk Jewish 64 BC - 6 AD with Roman 105-25 BC ally 53-26 for a 6-1 victory.
The Arab light lancers supported by light foot routed the opposing Jewish lights. Arab lancers supported by camels and elephants overpowered the Jewish horse concentrated on our left, though a few were lost to supporting Jewish foot in the process. Arab spears moved up and tackled a few isolated Jewish mediums on our right after being worn down by our surviving skirmishers.

Muslim Spearmen and some unlucky fall backs decide the day in favour of the arabs. Well played!
