Re: Historical Opponents Mirror League.
What's the purpose behind the rule in bold text? I struggle to see it's value and it goes against all good password guidelines. Maybe it is because I work in IT but I always try to make passwords reasonably secure and I never used to post them in the confirmation messages in the forum in the DL.
Other than this minor gripe I think this is a wonderful idea and will stretch me, and probably all, more than the DL matches where some armies were better and would give an advantage. I certainly would like to participate - thanks for organising.
Re: Historical Opponents Mirror League.
I should also be keen to participate please.

The purpose is to keep it simple, however it is not important - use whatever password you want.Morbio wrote: ↑Tue Dec 21, 2021 10:34 amWhat's the purpose behind the rule in bold text? Not a big problem is someone picks up the wrong game as their identity will appear on the game listing.
I have amended the scoring system to follow what CyberHetman suggested for the new FoG 2 league.

Approaching the end of the first week and all players have at least two posted matches that they are part of. So progress is good.
Please let me know if you have a challenge posted and are not getting a response and I will follow it up. I will do another check up in a few weeks but in the meantime it is up to the players to let me know if there is a stoppage anywhere.
Thanks to everyone for bearing with the teething problems of getting used to a new system.

Re: Historical Opponents Mirror League - Rules/Questions/Updates.
Just wanted to thank tyronec for organizing this league, and I think this mirror match format with the option of home map and terrain type is excellent.
As mentioned earlier, it makes formerly non-competitive armies like the Ligurians and Slave Revolt playable
Not that I plan on choosing either of them any time soon

I agree. Since both are playing the armies it makes it pretty fun choosing one that most would pass over for something 'better'.^^ray552 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 21, 2022 11:01 pm Just wanted to thank tyronec for organizing this league, and I think this mirror match format with the option of home map and terrain type is excellent.

We are 3 weeks of the 8 weeks into this competition. 40% of the games have been completed, which is excellent progress !
I would request that over the next couple of weeks everyone makes their remaining Away games challenges, that will allow for 3 weeks for the games to be completed. I will PM around the few players who haven't made a challenge yet.

Re: Historical Opponents Mirror League - Rules/Questions/Updates.
Many thanks, Tyrone, for setting up and administering this league! It was really entertaining, especially since it created some historically plausible battles (which I like!) and also mirror style, thus seen from both armies' perspectives.
The 4 opponents and mirror games (2 with "my" home army, 2 with "his") were just about the right level, balanced and not too large a group, and also manageable over 8 weeks. (I'm through with mine already now, but good to have 8 weeks just in case.) Also liked the 1600 FP setup.
For next season (because there'll be one, right? ) maybe introduce two-three specific, somewhat shorter time periods, for players to sign up, depending on which eras that interest them the most? It will increase the administrative burden on you, and also introduce some strains on players over-extending themselves if signing up to more than one period, but worthwhile considering at least.
