LOEG Late Middle Ages Division A - Results
LOEG Late Middle Ages Division A - Results
Scoring
Scoring will be based upon the break level and by how close the battle was. The narrower the margin between players will result in scores rather close while an early decisive win will be wider.
Win: 60 + (enemy break% - winner break %)
Draw or Loss: (enemy break %)
Example:
pantherboy (Romans) (61%) vs CheAhn (Carthage) (48%)
pantherboy (48%) = 48pts
CheAhn 60 + (61% - 48%) = 73pts
Reporting Games
Reporting results will be incumbent on the player who won the battle. They will be required to log into the Slitherine Forum and post the result publicly on the appropriate thread (e.g. Late Antiquity Eastern Conference Results). Results posted should be reported in the following format;
Pod (A/B/C etc.)
Player ID (army) (Army Break %) score vs Player ID (army) (Army Break %) score
Example:
Pod A
pantherboy (Romans) (61%) 48pts vs CheAhn (Carthage) (48%) 73pts

pantherboy (Indians) (44%) 77pts vs rexhurley (Tuaregs) (61%) 44pts
This victory belonged to the Tuaregs but constant bad rng's on Rex's turn prevented him from breaking through the Indian line quick enough.

Pod (C)
Morat (Ger Imperials) (14%) 86 points beat Warg 1 (Gr Imps) (40%) 14 points.
Mountains allowed the left flank to be fixed, so most of the manoeuvring and fighting happened in the centre and on the right. I just got the upper hand in a few key fights. The game felt much closer than the score suggests.
Thanks to Warg1 for a great game.

Edited with the correct rout percentages! Now correct.

Pod (C)
Morat (Ger Imperials) (59%) 61 points beat Zawzgrzyt (Bohemians) (60%) 59 points
Titanic battle. Germans smashed up the right, while their left was engulfed by Bohemian foot and bows. In the end it could have gone either way - and but for one crucial German rally and two last gasp Bohemian routs, would have done.
Thanks to Zawzgrzyt for a great game - where he largely out-generalled me.

Pod C
Western
Captainwaltersavage English 1155-1271 AD w/Irish allies lost 46% Zawzgrzyt (West) Bohemian 1200-1319 AD w/Polish 1200-1319 AD allies lost 55%
Scores
Captain Savage : 55
Zawzgrzyt: 46
This was a game of the rallies and returns. The English were initially battered left right and centre and were fleeing for the hills (apart from a few villagers armed with sticks hiding in some rough ground. Then the rallies started and what looked like a dismal rout turned into a very respectable score. The Bohemians then made a few errors based on the incredible performance of their dismounted knights in the early game. The English knights pulled themselves together and smashed apart a couple of dismounted knight units. The game was settled when some more English knights chased off some mounted crossbows, sealing the win. Except the mounted Bohemians turned round and entered the battlefield like they had never left - the English knights had gone home for their tea - then it was more rallies for both sides and victory slipped away, from both armies, as night fell.
My first battle with a new army and it did not go very well. A nice challenge though. Zawzgrzyt had every right to a victory but he was denied by the luck gods in this one.

Captainwaltersavage (west) English 1155-1271 AD w/Irish allies defeated Morat (West) German (Imperial) 1200-1319 w/German (North/West) allies54: 24
SO Captain Savage 54 + 30 = 84
Morat = 24
Lots of hills and hills and rough ground gave the English an apparent advantage and they attempted to claim the hill in the centre of the battlefield. They changed their mind when the Germans marched forwards in force and with a large wing of knights in reserve. So I turned around and fled back to the rough ground and flatter areas where I hoped to have less of a disadvantage.
The medium troops survived long enough for some flanks to start appearing and then the cavalry arrived in the nick of time. A wide movement meant that some medium cavalry that started on the far right wing managed to wriggle through to the left flank and hit some battling spears in the flank. They went onto break and disrupt several units and some knights and archer on the right managed to break another couple of units to seal the deal. Troops in the centre just died slowly enough to give me the victory.

A tremendous battle that was waged all over the map. archery, surprise attacks from forests whole wings being crushed and rallies enough to satisfy the most jaded palate. The battle was eventually decided as some poor German fragmented units were hunted down by rampaging knights. A great game. This English army is a delicate thing.

rexhurley (Taureg) (48%) 74pts defeats Cyberhetman (Berber) (62%) 48pts
A total grind fest. The true believers waited in the desert fringe until the coastal pretender left the cover of their field enclosures and stream and came out to play. Vet spear fought like manics in some cases (think three units including to flank fighting to autobreak level even when fragged), and not so well. Meanwhile the desert ships (camels) floated from side to side, end to end. Two last turn rallies saw the game blow out to this score otherwise it was 55/55 heading into the last turn that saw victory.
Now back to our reflections in the sun.....ALLLAK AKBAR! and salutations to a gracious looser.

pantherboy (Indians) (54%) 66pts vs CyberHetman (Berbers) (60%) 54pts
A brutal match as the Berbers fought across river and hill matching spears vs archers while the mounted arms fought on the flanks. A single rally for the Berbers would of made it impossible for the Indians to win who with another turn would of had an excellent chance to rout three floundering Indian archers. Thanks for the excellent match. Well played.
