The suspense is building in Cappadocia, with Pontus in bad shape but only needing 2% to win!!!!

The victory bells (or whatever they had in 240 BC) will be rung out all over Pontus as at last, despite a stubborn and well-fought defence, we can claim a victory in Cappadocia

. PONTUS IS SAVED!!! (at least until the next battle...)
Stability level raised to 4, so the attack on Sophene goes ahead!

Hi all!
Incomes have been collected and every nation is now richer than before! :o

Let each of you also remember that if your finances are not so plenty of money and prevent you from taking a desired action, there still is the chance of raising 70 talents with an Increase Tax action, that will cost you only 1 stability level.

Every moment you like.
This is not a turn based campaign but a dynamical one.
The only restrictions are that you can't have more than:
- 1 land or amphibious attack
- 1 independent attack
running at the same moment.

As Ulysisgrunt PMed to me he is going to invade once again Phoenicia from Egypt.

The honour of defending the shore of Lebanon falls on 76mm

EDIT
In fact the action was already forecasted on the 5th of January but never took actually place.

I've already successfully defended Phoenicia from the effete Egyptians once and plan to do so again!

The Roman invasion of Trinacria has failed, and the Syracusans have thrown out the invaders. It was a hard fought battle that was 56 to 62% at the end, and the result was often in doubt. My first encounter with Romans using hoplites, I thought I was certain to lose, and the Romans were winning to begin with. I felt more like that when I tried to charge them in front and flank and found my hoplites thrown back fragmented or disrupted - it seemed I was never going to get a flank charge on an engaged unit. However there were some units that did stick eventually and Roman losses started to mount. There was one amazing veteran hoplite unit that held off five Roman units until it finally auto-broke. Generally it took three of my units to rout a Roman unit - I found out that the value of a light horse unit is its ability to be around the rear of the enemy somewhere and charge widely separated fragmented units from the rear or flank. Still I had trouble beating up one Roman unit with cavalry, I had heavy cavalry facing it from three directions and I couldn't get one of them to stick when they charged, so it took a long time before a flank charge was able to do anything. Never give up, never surrender!

I suggest that in a future campaign, after seeing the terrain of a battle (but not his opponent's army - if that's possible) the defender be allowed to restart the battle. This way the defender gets to play on ground of his own choosing - he would only get one chance to restart the game, and if he gets worse terrain after restarting the battle then he has to accept it. The defender would be the player whose lands are being invaded.

Given the fact that Varity has disappeared from six days, making no moves in our match and not answering my PM, being anyway not my intention to claim the game as abandoned up until another three days, I'm anyway going to launch in the meanwile a new land attack, this time from Gandhara to Fergana.

In Paphlagonia, the Seleucids (Yellow) are actually losing, impossible though it may seem, though they are pressing hard and it seems it can't last and eventually their superior quality troops will make their weight felt. The Pontic army (Blue) massed for a drive along the river bank and put archers on the other side, ready to shoot away any defenders of the hill, but the Seleucids gave up the hill without a fight before they could be shot at.

The Jewish army successfully defended Phoenicia--again--against Ptolomy's Egyptian army. Hopefully this victory will dispel their delusions of grandeur and convince them to leave Judea alone in the future!

In an unrelated development, Macedon will attack Epirus again from Macedonia. Let me know the opponent and I will set up the challenge.

Let the fate sustain the true cause of the Pontic people, invaded by a tyrannical and unjust hellenistic ruler, relying only on the brute force of his army instead of trusting on the almighty Gods!

The soldiers hired by the rulers of Drangiana, struck by the teachings of the Buddha read by pious monks in front of the armies deployed for battle, dropped down their swords and spears flocking to their Indian brothers and kneeling in front of them in sign of submission.

Given the benevolence of the Mauryan commander they were immediately pardoned and another province happily joined the Empire where the rule of kindness and benignity invigorates everyone!
