lydianed (Persians) defeated edb1815 (Medians) 66:48
A hard fought game which the Medians did a good job of clawing their way back into and might feel a bit peeved not to leave with a point. Thanks for a thoughtful game edb1815.

SLancaster Papal 1050-1154 AD with Italo-Norman 1061-1071 AD allies defeated Nijis Mongol 1223-1241 AD. 61-36.
Always a tough battle v the Mongols. My men held and then pushed through the cavalry hordes to claim a good win.

Division C
Blagrot - Arab Conquest 638-684 AD beat deeter - Byzantine 551-578 AD 42% - 9%
The Arab spears were steadily pushing through the legio and routing the limitani while the cavalry of both sides slugged it out, the slight skill and armour advantage of the Byzantines nullified by the smelly camels. This changed sharply when an Arab lancer unit chased down some evading horse archers into the back of the Byzantine horsemen, setting off a rather spectacular chain of 4 routs and leaving the last of the hapless horse in combat with 4 times its number in Arabians. Thanks for the game and i hope your fortunes improve after that!

angel42052 - Roman 197-284 AD defeats Spacemonkey76 - Palmyran 258-273 with Armenian 253-476 AD allies 66%-50%
A closer game than it appears. I had three units rally on the last turn of the game.

Division C
carpenkm - Carthaginian (Hannibal in Africa) 202 BC beat SawyerK - Lysimachid 320-281 BC with Thracian Hellenistic 350-281 BC allies
62-47
What a fight and well played to my opponent.
After some initial manoeuvring both sides found their favourite hill and camped down for some breakfast. The Lysimidians ruined my chance of a cup of tea to wash down the sausages and bacon and soundly thrashed a few skirmishers in front of the main line. Unfortunately this lead to some over confidence with the Phalanxes which charged, charged some more and then pushed back - leaving their flanks for some sneaky attacks. A couple of moves later 5 phalanxes were in rout and I was starting to choose what to have from the lunch menu - both of us thinking the game was pretty much over before it has even started. Unfortunately, just as the wine waiter arrived for us to order, the Lysimidians decided that they had been a bit premature in their tactic of running away and decided to regroup. A perfectly unreasonable amount of rallies later the fight was back on! A lucky frag of a phalanx and some over pursuit from enemy Cav meant that I just snuck over the line thanks to those early wins. An excellent example of not giving up and some great generalship to keep the game going until the end.
To be honest you deserved a point at least and well played SawyerK - thanks for a great game.

Blagrot - Mongol (Europe) 1223-1241 AD beat Trogilus - Baltic Tribes 1050-1283 AD with Rus 1155-1264 AD allies 50% - 24%
A long steady game this, the centre of the map was dominated by a large, rough hill which the Baltics marched onto for safety and the Mongols did their best to ignore, the baltic cav had stayed away from the hill and despite some fierce resistance from the druzina were shot, flanked and killed, after which the mongol horse slowly shot apart the baltic archers and then anyone else who made a good target. Thanks for the game

Challenge1 - Viking (Ireland) 900-1049 AD with Scots 851-1051 AD allies defeated Cunningcairn - Frankish 751-887 AD with Moravian 833-907 AD allies 53-25
The vikings, situated on a hill, took a lot of casualties from the Frankish bows before they were able to get their Huscarls into play and break the Frankish spearwall. The score in no way reflects how close the battle was and it only ended with 1 turn remaining.
Many thanks for the game!
