Re: Any questions?
Hey Pete
I would be interested at the end of the season to see a tally of wins and losses for each faction in the Biblical section in your final wrap up as I believe that the Babylonians have lost every match against the Phoenicians so far.

Re: Any questions?
Yes, I always provide a stat at the end of the season so we can see what the best match-ups are and maybe use them again in future. We are quite limited in what we can do with the Biblical section as there are relatively few armies. There is still another DLC to come at some point.
I did announce a provisional list of match-ups for Biblical Season 11 about a month before we started, but nobody replied at all so I assumed they were OK.
Historical match-ups for Biblical Season 11 . . .
Post by stockwellpete » 29 Apr 2021 10:45
As previously indicated, the Biblical section will now alternate between historical match-ups and players choosing their own armies. So for Season 11 the mirror matches will consist of some new historical match-ups. I have come up with these five for consideration. The first pairing is based on a conflict about 60 years before the dates of the army lists, but I think it is still OK and I feel the Arab "civil war" one will work OK as I guess most players will not have used this army at all, so a couple of battles each with it might be interesting. I have not picked a Thracian match-up and they may be another possibility for a "civil war" battle in a subsequent season.
Assyrian 681-609BC v Urartian 685-585 BC (Conquest of Urartu 745 BC)
Arab 1000-313 BC v Arab 1000-313 BC (Awsan v Saba 700-600 BC)
Phoenician 681-539 BC v Babylonian 626-539BC (Phoenician revolts 626-605 BC)
Cypriot 680-550 BC v Egyptian 570-525 BC (Conquest of Cyprus 570 BC)
Achaemenid Persian 553-546 BC v Median 626-550 BC (Fall of Mede 553-550 BC)
These were the match-ups used in Season 9 . . .
Egyptian 664-571BC v Kushite 727-656BC (Invasion of Lower Egypt 664BC)
Median 836-627BC v Skythian 750-551BC (Skythian invasion 653BC)
Greek 680-461BC v Lydian 687-551BC (Campaign 615BC)
Assyrian 681-609BC v Babylonian 626-539BC with Median allies (Fall of Assyria 613BC)
Indian 500BC-319AD v Persian 545-481BC (Persian invasion 518-516BC)
If are likely to be entering Biblical in Season 11 and you can think of something more interesting then please let me know.

Division A
Aetius39 (Achaemenid Persian) defeats MorkinTheFree (Median) 65-39
It took a bit, but the onslaught of arrows at the Medians had them too disrupted and low on men to really put up a winning fight. GG and thanks for playing!^^

Division C
Captain Savage (Egyptian 570-525 BC) defeats Rob123 (Cypriot 680-550 BC) 62:50
We almost ran out of turns to finish this one. On a pretty flat plain it was all down to distance and timing. The Egyptians were initially successful With some deadly archery on their right flank and an attempt to outflank the Cypriots did not really work but created enough opportunities for their combined forces approach to quickly gain a lead on the scoreboard. Then the Cypriots struck the relatively weak left flank and almost without loss smashed it to pieces in its entirety (apart from one unit of archers that popped out on the far side of the Cypriot death circle and proceeded to spend the rest of the game bravely running away). The stars of the show were the Egyptian cavalry who managed to threaten flanks, break fragmented units and frustrate less agile units. Some fortunate rallies meant I finished in a strong position but it was a close run thing. Fabulous game that made me think very hard about what I was doing. Thanks to Rob123 for making me sweat.
