Thanks everyone, it was a great season.
Re: Warg1 has won Classical Antiquity Division C!
Well deserved, given my inability to break pike blocks elsewhere, it must have been luck that you dropped your only game against me. You have been a very tough opponent across all my divisions. Enjoy your deserved promotion, 1 more promotion left before you're in the "big show."

Division D for Dynamos
Barrold713 (Rus) defeats Tratmot (Arab) 63-45
The Arab force was pesky and I had to overcome an incompetent setup and general bumbling to wear them down with some fortuitous combats and opportune flank chances.
Thanks for the match

Division B
lydianed (Palmyran) defeated Morat (Visigoths + Byzantines) 60:57
Such a close game. Truthfully, the result could have gone the other way as lots of horses were chasing each other all over the place for 16 rounds. Thanks for the game.

carpenkm - Palmyran 258-273 AD (1600) beat Barrold713 - Ancient British 60 BC-80 AD with Roman 24 BC-196 AD (1600) 57 - 29
A good game where i somehow managed to keep the massed skirmishers and chariots occupied while the legionaries did their work on the warbands. Closer than the score suggests.

Blagrot - Germanic/Gothic Horse Tribes 260-492 AD with Dacian (Carpi) 107-380 AD allies beat Barrold713 - Ancient British 60 BC-80 AD with Roman 24 BC-196 AD 61% - 46%
A confused mess of many little battles and a lot of overruns, units barrelling off into the distance and general warband cohesion reliability but once the Romans fell the German cavalry proved stronger, helped by the sorrowful absence of british chariots. Thanks for the game

Thanks for the lesson Blagrot. I'll be spending the off season picking arrows out of my (lack of) armour and buying shares in which every company makes voltorol as you will obviously have strained many muscles firing arrows at me. Shame you had to win on a back field rally when i was just about to finish you off!!! See you again.Blagrot wrote: ↑Mon Aug 02, 2021 7:39 pm Division D

Division C
SLancaster Roman 199-106 BC with Greek 227-146 BC allies defeated carpenkm Carthaginian (Hannibal in Africa) 202 BC. 41-9.
This was my last game in the Classical section and I was very happy to finish with a win to go 5-4. It has been quite a slog with a lot of good players and armies to fight. The Roman 199 BC list was my emergency selection because all my four choices had gone. It is a pretty decent army but it has little cavalry and not much really high end infantry compared to some other lists.
In this battle, I managed to match up my better infantry with weaker opponents and then hold his elephants and cavalry at bay. Thanks for the battle and good luck with your last league games, carpenkm!

Re: Any questions?
How does the TE work if both players have the same score in a knock out round, say each wins one game OR there are two draws.
Do you go to the percentage score over both games ?
If the games are not completed is slow play taken into account, like in the Swiss Tournaments for example ?

Rule 5 includes these regulations for the Themed Event. If we need to adjudicate unfinished matches then slow play may be taken into account . . .tyronec wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 6:13 am How does the TE work if both players have the same score in a knock out round, say each wins one game OR there are two draws.

"In the Themed Event, however, where it is necessary to separate players in the final tables at the group stage to decide who progresses to the knock-out phase, the points aggregate from the matches between the players with the same number of wins will be used to decide the final places in the group table. If this still does not separate the players then lots will be drawn to determine which player(s) proceed to the next stage of the competition.
In the knock-out rounds of the Themed Event where players win one game each, aggregate scoring will be used to decide which player progresses to the next round. Players resigning a match in the knock-out stages will automatically be knocked-out of the competition."

A battle of attrition the Sicilians claimed by greater numbers. Good game against an interesting opponent!

Re: Warg1 has won Classical Antiquity Division C!
Thanks all...I certainly learned a lot about pike armies over the games. The Pyrrhic army is strong once you know what to pick and work out that charging roman legions up a hill isn't perhaps the optimal strategy. Still, most of the games were pretty tough and felt this was a pretty competitive division. Great season to dim30 as well...bit tough to come 2nd when you finish on equal points as you obviously played extremely well.
