All I can say for myself is, "Be nice to the people you meet on the way up, because they're the same people you'll meet on the way down."
If I'm not mistaken this is the motto of the oldest profession on earth.
It definitely would be appropriate, whether you are talking about politicians or courtesans
However, I believe the earliest citation was a 1932 newspaper article quoting an American playwright giving advice to a rising young movie star:
Players are still continuing to sign up and we have reached a massive 110 registrations now. I have been able to open up a fifth division for recruitment in Biblical with just 2 places to fill already. And I have offered provisional places in Late Antiquity, Early Middle Ages and High Middle Ages in an effort to open new divisions for recruitment in those sections. The reason for doing things this way is that I want to avoid players signing up thinking they have got a place, only to be told at the weekend that there is not enough players to form their division.
I am allowing players who have signed up for 4 sections to add a fifth one, provided that they can be confident of completing the matches. joggy and random27 already have a fifth section. Is there anyone else?
Once a section has become full I still need to recruit some reserves for each one, because occasionally players do drop out at the beginning of the season, or they play so slowly that they have to be replaced at one of the two Time Control checks (after 3 weeks and then after 5 weeks). I have divided the vacancy slots according to the divisions so that reserves entering the tournament do so at their appropriate level of skill/experience . . .
High Middle Ages
A - Nosy_Rat (A), vacancy
B/C - Questar17 (B), MorkinTheFree, vacancy
D/E - Herode_2, vacancy, vacancy
Important: please note that I will be giving priority to those players registering as reserves who have yet to be allocated anything at all in the current season.

“Tout le secret des armes ne consiste qu'en deux choses, à donner et à ne point recevoir.”
Says the guy who won his divisions in EMA and Biblical last season
Hey Ray552, it was supposed to be a compliment, don't take it in a wrong way
No worries - I took it as a compliment, thank you
[Edit] To clarify my original comment, if there is anyone that people need to be watching for, it's *you*, for winning two divisions in your first DL season
