Division E

We have a result in the game between gamercb (Lysimachids 320-281BC) and IMC (Achaemenid Persians 550-546BC)

IMC's Persians came out on top, largely due to the terrain: making a concerted assault on the Persian lines difficult for the pikes.

Score IMC Persians 42% Gamercb Lysimachids 9 %

Thanks for the game Colin. See you on line soon.

Correction, it appears the loser names have been reversed. harveylh's Chen Chinese lost to Gorrick's Northern Dynasties 48-21.

Division C

Brenmusik, Gallics defeats (just) Peterabb, Romans. 51-64
A hard fought battle, which went on and on, had the returning Roman cavalry been a little closer to the action it would have ended differently.

Division C Round 9

harveylh (Romans 425-492AD) beat Morbio (Western Huns 376-454AD) by 60-39.

Terrain greatly favored the Romans. A stream secured the Roman right flank and shrank the battlefield by about a third. Some rough terrain and a hill made the left flank somewhat secure. The Western Huns did mitigate the terrain by deploying every bow possible and came close to shooting their way to victory.

Division B

edb1815 Romans defeats Nijis Carthage Hannibal in Italy 41-13

This was a game of whose flank would go first. The Romans anchored their weak flank on a difficult going hill using velites and 1 Italian infantry to hold it. Luckily one velite held out far longer that it should have against a warband unit - thanks to the steep slope. The Roman line turned the other flank and held off the Carthaginian cavalry to get the win. Well played by Nijis.

Re: The half-way Time Control thread (July 6th)

Post by stockwellpete » Sat Jul 07, 2018 8:23 am

A lot of results have come in over the last few days and the number of names on the Time Control list has reduced quite considerably. There are a few players who have not posted 3 results in each section that they have entered, but there is no-one who has posted 0 or 1 result, or who appears on the list twice. So there will be no further replacements and everyone may continue with their matches. Thanks to everyone who has made an extra effort in the last week or so to get matches done. :D
