Geffalrus (Palmyra) defeats SpeedyCM (Sassanid Persia) 46-5. Good game to my opponent.
The Sassanids set up a line of Levies backed by archers and elephants along the far side of the map and proceeded to wait. The Palmyran legions, cataphracts, and archers calmly marched across the map, set up in front of the Persians, massed the legionary foot on one flank, anchored the archers in a mess of obstacles, and dropped a hammer on one end of the Sassanid line. With no room to maneuver, the elite horse archers were quickly chased off the map while the Roman infantry chewed through the levy foot. On the other flank, the Sassanids gamely rolled forward to attack the archers, but found their way blocked by the heavy catphracts. With the elephants trapped behind the infantry, the levies bravely charged the Palmyran lancers, giving their compatriots time to rush forward and engage the Palmyran archers. The cataphracts, however, happily stomped the levies into paste, bringing the fight to an abrupt end.
The decisive left flank assault.

rexhurley (Numidians) defeats SpeedyCM (Sassanid Persia) 52/26.
Fighting on a narrow front thanks to the map rng again it was a challenge however knowledge gained from my knock out match against Nosy Rat and that Speedy chose to put all his cav on a flank helped the Numidians to grind down the mass infantry wall to victory

phoyle3290 - Carthaginian 216-203 BC defeats KiFi - Macedonian 320-261 BC - 52-20
The Macedonians brought a lot of cavalry to this match throwing me off guard. Unfortunately for KiFi, his cavalry flanking move around my right flank never came to fruition as I was able to hold them back long enough to wipe out his infantry. Thanks for the game!

Triarii - Dailami 928-1055 AD (Arab (Syria/Iraq) 1009-1150 AD allies) beats CheAhn - Byzantine 988-1041 AD (no allies) 62-48
An epic battle - the Dailami LC had made it very difficult for the much superior Byzantine right to get involved while the raw Byzantine left was seen off by veteran Dailami concentrated against them.
A large win was snatched away by masterful Byzantine defence bringing the superior Varangians and cataphracts back into play - they routed fully 13% of the Dailami in the penultimate move. Fortunately the Dailami were just able to reach the 60% despite the attempt to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
Thanks to CheAhn.

The Romans plodded on across the map which had a large and convenient wood to pivot on until the Huns ran out of space.
A good game - thanks XLegione.

Nijis (Seleucids) defeats nyczar (Romans) 40-15.
The phalanxes got lucky and absorbed the legions' charge without any disruptions or push-backs, for once. That, and the Macedonians' medium-foot advantage in rough terrain on one flank, allowed them to win the subsequent heavy infantry shoving match.

Weekly round-up
A very exciting week in Division A saw dkalenda (Lysimachid) post two wins but then a loss to harveylh (Ptolemaic) to leave the players tied together at the top of the table with one match left to play. In third place, and still unbeaten after 5 matches is klayeckles (Achaemenid Persians) who has still to play dkalenda in what is now an absolutely crucial match. In Division B, the relegation battle heated up with wins for SpeedyCM (Spanish), nyczar (Roman) and Trogilus (Hannibal in Africa) leaving Morbio (Indo-Greeks) at the bottom of the table. Nothing much to report in Division C, but in Division D phoyle3290 (Carthaginian) won his last match to pip Tresantes (Pyrrhic) to the automatic promotion place. Well done to everyone in this division to be the first ones to complete all their 45 matches.
Unbeaten runs of 3 matches or more
harveylh (Division A) 5 matches
klayeckles (Division A) 5 matches
paulmcneil (Division C) 3 matches
Match completion rate (45 matches in total to be played in each division)
Division A - 39 out of 45 matches completed
Division B - 34 out of 45 matches completed
Division C - 36 out of 45 matches completed
Division D - 45 out of 45 matches completed
These are excellent match completion rates.

phoyle3290 has won Classical Antiquity Division D!
In a fabulous contest, phoyle3290 won his last match with his Carthaginian army to pip the long time leader Tresantes (Pyrrhic) to the automatic promotion spot in Classical Antiquity Division D. Both players finished with 8 wins from 9 matches and can expect to be playing in Division C next season. Well played phoyle3290!

Weekly round-up
ruskicanuk (Romano-British) duly won his 2 remaining matches to complete an unbeaten season and he will finish 11 points clear of the runner-up whatever happens in the remaining fixtures. At the bottom of the table the relegation battle looks to be between klayeckles (Hepthalite) and NikiforosFokas (Jewish Revolt) and these two players still have to play each other. In Division B rexhurley (Moorish) moved to the top of the table with a win in his last match, but he is unlikely to stay there for long as firm favourite Triarii (Kingdom of Soissons) secured his fifth win from 6 starts to sit just 3 behinds now. There is nothing to report from Divisions C and D this week.
