Reuniting Egypt, Orient Mod, mini AAR
Reuniting Egypt, Orient Mod, mini AAR
I saw a screenshot by the Orient Mod creator, Hiro, in the Steam Community Hub. It was one of Upper Egypt, controlled by the Priests of Amun, reuniting Egypt under their rule. So I decided to try the scenario/mod as Lower Egypt, attempting to reunite the land under the Pharoah's leadership.

Re: Reuniting Egypt, Orient Mod, mini AAR
I made my mod quite easy by adding a lot of resoreces, especially strong nations like lower Egypt, so this AAR will not abrupt end.
Also intersting enough, the 3rd photo was very diffirent from one with my monitor which was not so coloful.
Always, looking forward to see how the game advenced, because I didn't have enough time to play testing it in the longrun (I don't have enough free time recently..).

It almost did have a very abrupt end. See the next post, on how close it was. I have saturation up a bit, producing brighter colors I think.

Re: Reuniting Egypt, Orient Mod, mini AAR
Victory over the traitorous priests!
It was a hard-fought victory, over a thirty year period, and at one point the Pharoah's forces were down to ... zero. Fortunately, the Upper Egypt forces sole remaining field unit was so damaged that it had to limp back to Thebes for repair.
Pharoah had done one thing right, in going after the Upper Egypt resources first, taking away their ability to produce many units or even do repairs.
The reprieve, with Memphis holding on by a thread, came as the city itself was repaired, then it was able to build a field force of spearmen. The army was then directed to continue its campaign against the Theban resources. By the 20th year of the war, when Memphis had built a second field force, the fight was taken to Thebes itself. plunder:

Palestine has been taken, but Israel still has control of part of Syria. Egypt was quick to accept peace when it came up against a strong Babylonian force.
Tyrus has been a long-term ally, but when the time comes, if they don't accept assimilation or federation, Egypt will attempt to purloin their cities.

Re: Reuniting Egypt, Orient Mod, mini AAR
LOL. Syria Army city.
Probably naming individual armies in the editor was a bad idea, because almost all units can make a city in this game.
Other than that, seems like the mod has no problems in the middle game.
I think what Babylonia,Assyria, and Egypt in the mod is what Rome, Carthage, and well, Egypt in the mediterranean scenario. the 3 great powers struggle in the later game, but seems like Assyria is actually a bit weak in this game and Greece is going to be the position of the 3rd nation (if they win against Phyrigia or fedelation with them).

I'm lagging behind in building cities.
I should probably have played this on a higher difficulty level to get a bit less resources.

An event I never saw before. Is this unique to the Orient mod?

Re: Reuniting Egypt, Orient Mod, mini AAR
As a just novice player's opinion, I think you should make at least one city in the Sinai Peninsula for the benefit of collecting the resources(already you have plenty them though).
As for the event, not at all, I even didn't check the event tag. all events are the same in the vanilla version.

Re: Reuniting Egypt, Orient Mod, mini AAR
In the 40th year after reunification, Egypt has regained it's lands in Palestine, with the exception of those areas held by Tyrus. Since Egypt has a 'Brothers in Arms' alliance with Tyrus, and since Tyrus now exists only at the sufferance of Egypt, Pharoah considers those lands part of the realm. Pharoah is satisfied.
[The Ancient Orient mod is fun and immersive. I recommend it. Hiro stated that he upped the resources a bit for the major countries; with that in mind I recommend trying the scenario on a higher difficulty, for an experienced player. Next time I may even go for Legendary.]
