Watchtower:
"One of the new structures introduced with the Persia DLC. A cheap zero-slot building tailor-made to deal with those annoying raiding civs on your border, this will be worth 30 strength points of troops in repelling raids into the region. Not a cure-all to the problem, but it helps."

Guard tower:
"A nifty little structure that got added with the Persia DLC, this inexpensive zero-slot building will give you a nice added garrison, and a bit of intrinsic protection against cross border raiding (10 points worth). The only real downside is its temporary nature due to removal at Pop 12."

Walls and fortifications in general are adding a significant bonus to counter raiding.

Sometimes I have suffered enemy raids even with a large army in the region.I don't know if it would help to put it as a garrison or that doesn't matter. Because I'm surprised you can't do anything to prevent raids except build walls. Since it's also happened to me having a good army in the garrison. I'd like to know if, then, I can use my army for other things and simply build walls or if it also influences the army you have in the region and, if it's more effective as a garrison or if it doesn't matter if it's out. Thank you very much.

Army size apparently has no effect, only buildings.

This is army power that matters and it does have a definitive effect yes. That's just that compared to army power, it is much cheaper to have buildings with garrisons and some walls.

Hmm, I have parked armies of 100's on regions that was raided with no apparent effect, so I stopped doing that.
I would expect that the raider would be crushed every time, but that was not the case afair.
Got to test that again, is there any way I can definitely see the army has an effect in game?

I put some skirmishers inside the walls and that seems to make a considerable difference.

Ah so only garrisoned troops work, that might be the trick, I stationed the army outside.

That's my perception. Like you, my army stacks did little, if anything.

Weird, the check is simple and should work, this is at line 1396 of host.bsf ... the raider checks against enemy army power, garrisoned or not.

I also recall, but not the most recent release. Troops in the region had no impact.

Man, it is a lot better than it once was. Do you remember every 15 minutes needing to reboot in Win 95 & Win 98. When I got XP, I had this strange out of body experience, and I found out it is called "immersion" which can happen if Windows doesn't crash all the time.

That was only because you didn't let your windows run long enough :)
The stange experience when the servers rebooted for no apparent reason.

I think, as I see around here, it happens to many of us who clearly notice that all our efforts at this point seem useless. Because it happens to us many times in very clear situations. Here I put some links to screenshots. Vindilia has been looted with a Roman army of 92 of force in the province, plus a garrison of force 43. The force of 92 did not move from Vindilia this turn. He was stationary there. Plus the other army nearby, who was on the previous turn in Vindilia, force 55. The province was looted by a Goth army of 17 strength!!
Previous turn (156): previous turn: the two armies were in Vindilia. The little one (force 55) goes to Taifeia. Force 92 stays in Vindilia. And garrison is 43.

I would need to check what is exactly going on. I would need the saved game before raiding. Perhaps that's just bad luck, perhaps a bug has appeared.

I sent you a private message ( I've got it in outbox, but since I haven't used it before, I'm not sure it's sent) asking how to send you the files, in the forum I can't find a way, maybe I need your email. Send it to me by private message and I'll send you the files.

I just did. Two emails, because not all the files fit in the 30 Mb that Slitherine allows.
