Sandbox mode number of openents

Sandbox mode number of openents

How do you get sandbox to mode to have less than the maximum number of opponents? I can not find in any of the setup screens that allows you to select the number of opponents you want to play against.

It seems that you have to choose at least three opponents.

I have chosen large galaxy and the game requires that I choose 8 opponent races.

With a large Galaxy I have to choose at least 4 opponents.
Then the start button is enabled. (Version 1.00.02)

With large galaxy playing as human I have to choose all eight races. I do not know why the made this limitation because all 4X games that I have played allow you to choose as few as one opponent up many opponents. This is a backward step in 4X games. They should allow you to play as many opponents as you want to.

As I said before, I can start a sandbox game with 4 opponents. But, of course, you're right that there should be no limit. Maybe the devs can explain why there is this limitation.

All you have to do, after setting the game rules(most importantly here the galaxy size) and picking your faction, is to click on the ones you want to play against on the opponents screen.
There you can check the number on the top right corner, it should say 1/[MaxPlayers] at the begining, but it will update with each opponent you add and turn green when you have enough.
As of 02 the min/max players limits(you + opponents) are per galaxy size are as follows:

Tiny 2/2
Small 3/4
Average 4/6
Large 5/8

These values were chosen to balance the game, mostly due to the randomness of initial player placement and the density of possible fruitful colonies per player available.

As advertised, the game is very moddable.
If one wants to play vs a minimum of 1 AI on any galaxy size, simply...mod it.

GalacticViewCameraBondaryOffset = 1000,

Increasing the Max Players also works; not sure what the game will allow, however.

Increasing the number of opponents is still viable per 1.01.05.
