Screen issues

Post by Warspite1 » Sat Sep 07, 2019 3:43 pm

Does anyone know what may be wrong here? I have two monitors and the Empires game appears on the left (same as always for all my games). When I click on anything in the right screen the game disappears (and I have to recover from the tool bar). When I try and 'Print Screen' the game flickers and when I try and paste the image in Paint 3D its not there....

Any ideas what may be wrong and how to put it right? I have never seen this issue with any other game but is essentially unplayable at present....

Thanks

Further to the above note, this affects both Empires and FoG II. In case it was something to do with recent updates on my computer I have tried World In Flames, TOAW IV and SC WaW and all work as normal. Please help as these games are unplayable and I've just spent £45 on them......

The games you mentioned are build in different game engines while FoG II and Empires are in the same one.
Please try setting the game in windowed mode and check if the issue persists.

I went on line to try and understand what windowed mode means. They said to put -w in the Target box. I did that and clicked on 'Borderless Window'. This now allows me to click on the right screen without losing the game, but a) the game screen is much smaller and b) I can't take a screen shot.....

you can adjust the screen size in the game set up so that it fills one of your screens

Yes, having done the above I then made the resolution bigger so that it almost fills one screen. But I still can't take a screenshot. The game continues to flicker as I press Print Screen and then does not paste in Paint.

Mmmmm seem to have found a long winded, convoluted way to do it so I'll see if that works.

I am not sure what -w in target means, but you switch the games to Windowed mode via the in-game options (or by editing the Documents/My Games/<game folder>/OPTIONS.TXT file, but this is only needed if you cannot access the in-game options). You can play Windowed mode with no frame which will have the same look as fullscreen.

Cheers
