First Tournament
See: viewtopic.php?f=58&t=100267
For information, the map cycle on this tournament is:
1. Two Bridges
2. Peninsula Invasion
3. Karjalan Kesa
This is a relatively small and quick turn-around tournament as we want to ensure that we've not got any bugs or issues in there

Re: First Tournament
The 24th place is mine... an omen?
Re: First Tournament
Well that was more popular than I expected
So I've expanded it to 48 players now!

Start time:
July 27 , 12:00
Just to confirm, that is UTC, correct? (I'd hate to miss the start!)

Re: First Tournament
I signed in too. And yeah there are a surprising amount of players. Bodes well. What's this business about missing the start mean? I assume I'll just get an e-mail about my turn as usual, only presumeably the boot deadline is a little faster than the usual seven days. So long as I'm within a reasonable timeframe there are no problems, I hope. Like I might be sleeping or something but absolute worst case scenario is ten hours for me to respond.

Re: First Tournament
I was only kidding about missing the start. Just my jabbering.
But I won't miss it.
I think I like the tourney format. It's better than single elimination by a long shot. Everybody gets to play 3 games -- I like that.

Re: First Tournament
Oh good I was afraid I'd be passed out drunk and then not only have a hangover but a "you lose by default!" e-mail to anticipate I'll see if I can't nag more people into joining the tournament before it starts too.
Re: First Tournament
Yeah, you'll get an email when the tournament starts, and the usual emails when it's your turn.
There's no "boot deadline" per se, players get booted from the tournament if they don't play their games at all and we apply a score adjustment if they only play a few turns (to avoid their opponent being disadvantaged).
Also, you can't "resign" from a tournament game and most of the maps will give you an incentive to keep playing, so it's worth playing your matches to a close.

Re: First Tournament
I notice even after expanding to 48 players, it's still full up! Too late to increase the number of players again?
Re: First Tournament
I think that I'm okay with 48 for a first tournament, and I don't want to be messing with settings ahead of a weekend
Re: First Tournament
And we're underway, feel free to ask me any questions about how the tournament or the maps flow
