Tutorial #2

Post by selfsearcher »

I'm having "some troubles" with the second tutorial, Baron difficulty. I usually end up with my infantry facing enemy cavalry's charges, with obvious results.
How can I limit the damage? Do you have some suggestion on how should I deploy my army?
Or should I lower the difficulty level? (short answer: I made through FOG2 tutorials at Legate... I hope to do the same here)
Thank you in advance.

Allow me to shamelessly self plug:

A quick playthrough of Tutorial 2. I click through the various popups, as I assume you've read them, and just talk through my thinking.

Thank you very much! I saw your nice video. I tried to do it myself and I lost (LOL). But I will retry for sure, this time mimicking a bit what you made.

To be clear, I think that there are multiple ways to approach this scenario, without necessarily deploying exactly as I did. Still, no matter how you do it you want to keep your spearmen and knights out of the marshes, and not attack from the marshes onto an open tile, as you will be disordered attacking steady units if you do so.

Maybe this was my mistake: I taught I had to put some spearmen in the marshes, hiding them from enemy.

Yea, you don't want to put spearmen in the marshes in general. However, you should be able to put non-heavy foot units there without a problem.

Done! Finally, I understood the game better. Not an easy task for me but using my knights in groups helped me a lot. :D :D
