Missing hill in tournament game

Post by JonJonJon »

In one battle, the hill is present and correct:

But in the other, we have an imposter:

Glitch confirmed by opponent. No height on any of the hill tiles in the second screenshot. There's a weird little corner bit of a hill tile by the lowermost part of the hill also, partially obscured by units on both pics.

Thanks for the report. We will look into it.

We had this problem before due to turn files failing to transfer correctly owing to interference by Google Drive. The height data is near the end of the file, and was previously sometimes affected by Google Drive truncating the file download.

We thought we had fixed the issue by increasing the frequency of flushing.

Are you (or your opponent) running Google Drive or any other synching software? (It only has to be one of you).

There is supposed to be new code in the current release version to detect corrupted turn data files. Although we have not been able to test it in the wild as yet.

Did either of you get any popup message saying "There was an error loading the game"? (Note that only the person first loading the game after it got corrupted would see the popup).

(The stray slope tile is normal for an irregular shaped height 200 hill. I presume the hill is supposed to be height 200, the cursor saying 100 appears to be over the slope, not the top of the hill).

There's a veritable orgy of backups going on here - Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive and quite possibly Amazon Drive. No error message on my end.
