Sorry to be a pain but Bohemians do not have access to Polish allies as they do not hold any Polish territory, so they will need to attack by themselves.

That's fine: I just briefly looked in the list of armies, at the end of the rules. Now I see that "If they control any Polish Land they can also employ Polish as allies."

Turn 2: Imatson2527

Imatson2527 using Danes raids Olin0111
Type: Raid
Starting point: Land no. 14 (Kolobrzeg)
Target: Land no. 18 (Czarnków)

After having multiple military setbacks Kazimierz of Opole decides to take a more subtle approach. Having made a agreement with some Danish nobles, he directs them to raid Czarnków held by Władysław Spindleshanks in the hope that it will destabilize his power in central Poland.

Defenders, please set up the battles, pick the terrain and (if you wish) allies out of those available - i.e. the ones that you share border with and are not used by the attacker. Also, please remember that (quoting from the rules) Players can use Foreign Power as an ally during attack declarations or in defense until it starts „doing its own thing”. That includes Teutonic Order that is busy conquering Prussians.

The battles will be played simultaneously and should be resolved by 27 Apr at the latest.

Good Luck and Have Fun!

1. Olin0111 defeats Gfs26 54-29

After cripling the attacking forces in battle defenders chase them back and seize their lands. Multiple castles are taken in subsequent sieges!

It was a good battle and could go either way had my great knightly charge on the left wing been unsuccessful. The knights were decimated but managed to largely rout Gfs' right flank and some of my units were able to flank and charge the enemy centre sealing the deal. My right flank in the meantime was crumbling but not fast enough to give my opponent a victory.

6. Olin0111 defeats Imatson2527 60-5

The Imatson's Danes deployed in a deep formation and advanced. However they lost the battle in the forest on their left flank. The fight didn't go well on their right flank either as advancing knights first were met with a hail of arrows and bolts from my mounted units and then largely routed by my knights. My centre held and this resulted in a classic double envelopment situation. Seeing that the situation is hopeless the Danes broke and ran away.

I know that we are past deadline but I am keeping my hand on a pulse and know that games 2,3 and 4 are progressing so hopefully they will be concluded by the end of the week. In the meantime before turn 3 starts I would like to discuss with you possible modifications to the rules based on the feedback I received.

1) Foreign Raids.
The first proposed change is to allow Foreign Raids to be made even to a territory that is already part of a military campaign (i.e. a territory that was a starting point of an attack or a target of attack). If the raid is successful the province gets looted but does not change ownership. Therefore, players' provinces would still be protected from being conquered if they were a part of a military campaign but would not be immune to some plundering.

2) Foreign attacks from their home territory.
Currently every territory in the game is treated the same, be it one Polish Land or a Foreign starting territory (Kingdom of Bohemia, Kingdom of Denmark etc.), in that only one attack is allowed from any territory. However, foreign home territories represent entire duchies or kingdoms so we can make a change to allow multiple attacks to be made from those. The only exception might be the Teutonic Order that does not own a large duchy so we can still treat their home territory as any other Polish land.

The changes above would give more options to the players of who to attack and where to attack. At the same time they could potentially have a big impact on gameplay as they would allow, for example, somebody to make multiple Mongol raids from Hungarian or Rus territory. And the Mongols are coming so we should discuss it beforehand!

What do you guys thing? Are these changes in the rules clear for you? Are you in favor of them or would like to keep things as they are?

EDIT: spelling and grammar

Many thanks for your quick replies. If everyone is onboard then the following rules are amended:

8. Attack and Special Action Declarations
Attack may be made from any territory that is not already considered a part of a military campaign and has not been looted in previous turn.
Exception: Lands of neighbouring Foreign Powers, i.e. their home territories (German Eastern Marches, Kingdom of Bohemia etc.), can be a starting point of an attack even if they are already a part of a military campaign. Multiple attacks can be made from their home territories. The Teutonic Order does not own a large duchy or kingdom, therefore the above exception does not apply to them.

8.1 Attack types
Foreign/Neutral Raid

Foreign Raids can be made even to a territory that is already part of a military campaign. This is a second exception to rule in pt. 8 "Attack and Special Action Declarations".

Close game where at the end many of the Hungarian units were close to breaking themselves. Real slugfest! GG!

Target: Land no.3 (Sandomierz)
Olin0111 defeats Aetius39 42-15
Rus forces had to cross deep stream and storm Polish positions on the hill but eventually managed to rout the opponents. Land of Sandomierz has been taken by the Duchy of Galicia-Volhynia.

With that turn 2 is concluded!

5. Kronenblatt defeats Gfs26 in Bohemian raid on Opole.

Danish raid is repelled. Losses: Olin0111 (5%), Imatson2527 (60%).

EDIT:
Also, apart from battles, Olin0111 vassalizes Neutral Polish territories - Land no. 12 and 13 (Gdańsk, Słupsk).
AND
Teutonic Order conquers Land no. I (Pomezania).

Situation on turn 3
Image

Initiative order for turn 3 based on the highest losses incurred in a single battle:
Aetius39 (45%)
Gfs26 (54%)
Imatson2527 (60%)
Kronenblatt (62%)
Olin0111 (67%)

Support Points (SP) for turn 3 including adjustment for battles won/lost:
Aetius39: 3
Gfs26: 1
Imatson2527: 3
Kronenblatt: 2
Olin0111: 4

Please post your attack declarations by the following date:
Aetius39 - 4 May - Also, please decide if Teutonic Order conducts conquest of a Prussian tribe and if so which one. If they do not conduct the conquest they will be able to assist in battles againt pagans.
Gfs26 - 5 May
Imatson2527 - 6 May
Kronenblatt - 7 May
Olin0111 - 8 May

Please remember that Land no. 2 and 24 have "looted" status this turn and cannot be a starting point of attack. They can, however, be conquered or raided.

Mongols
Although the fractured lands have seen a lot of fightining there seem to be no respite for the troubled people. Messengers bring terrible news that the great Mongol horde is coming! They crushed all opposition on the steppe and enslaved many Rus principalities leaving a trail of ashes and sorrow. Now they are attacking the Duchy of Galicia-Volhynia and the Kingdom of Hungary!
Image

As a reminder Mongol raids cost 1 SP but can cause a defender to lose 2SP next turn if he loses. At the same time a successful defense against the Mongol raid will grant the defender 2SP next turn (high risk/high reward). The raids can strike up to 1 province away from the territories controlled by the Duchy of Galicia-
Volhynia or the Kingdom of Hungary. In case of Mongol (as well as Prussian) raid the attacker decides the terrain out of those available and sets up the battle.
