Unreformed Inf Point less?

Post by Blathergut »

Finally had a chance to start going through the latest version. Unreformed drilled dropped from 8pts to 7pts?

-rifle skirmishers no different from musket skirmishers except for commander potential kills?

-cav effect on shooting...just -1 die now?

Yep, and still probably not the strongest option
-rifle skirmishers no different from musket skirmishers except for commander potential kills?
Also yes. Small effect, small cost. To be frank we probably dont really need to represent rifles as different from muskets at this level of game.
-cav effect on shooting...just -1 die now?
No more "my whole line can sit here under fire indefinitely because it includes some cav". Also one of the reasons unreformed needed to get cheaper.

Give the new rules a go. They play quicker, are more clearly written and the deployment system is much better. We have been having a lot of fun with them

My question is about the Austrians. Why do they cost 1 point more from 1813?
I can't find anything about it in the rules other than it showing on the points chart.
I'm looking forward to trying the deploy options, looks interesting.

I believe that they get to move as reformed but still shoot as unreformed (ie the opposite of brits)

Thanks Marty. It would have been nice to see an explanation in the rules.

Yup. See page 8 under 'Troops - Infantry'. We'll also make mention of this in the relevant v2 army lists.
Modelling 1813 Austrians this way is an attempt to represent the evolution over to column tactics, but without acquiring much in the way of skirmish skills along the way.

I don't think it is.
But it should be. Thanks for noticing, I've made a note to cover this off.
