Re: Alex Axis vs Morris Allies 1941 scenario
it looks like Axis could hold the line in Russia at least until Sept 1942 . I wonder whether Axis may achive this in our pbem .
Re: Alex Axis vs Morris Allies 1941 scenario
Since it didn't seem like Alex was posting any secrets and the post was several turns behind where we are in the game, I assumed I could look in on this. (Alex -- please let me know if you'd prefer me not to). In answer to a question somebody raised earlier, here's a synopsis of the other theaters in Alex's game against me. This is through nearly the end of 1942.
The Axis immediately abandoned Africa, so 8th Army gobbled up the garrisons as expected. After a quick victory in Yugoslavia, the Axis moved on to Greece. There were several naval battles in the eastern Med, but when the dust settled, the Greeks, together with elements of 8th Army, held Athens, Saloniki and Crete. Four to five Axis corps keep watch against Allied breakouts.
There was a little debacle for the Allies in a 1941 invasion of Sicily, turned back by virtue of the entire Luftwaffe taking winter break along the Med. The Allies regrouped and invaded North Africa in late spring of '42, taking Algiers and Oran quickly, then clearing the rest of the coast. An invasion of Sardinia (currently in progress) followed.
The Atlantic has been relatively quiet, just a big battle off Norway in 1941, with very little U-boat activity since.
In the summer of '42 British paras took an undefended Dutch capital from the air. No American troops were available in England at the time, so the Brits undertook a limited invasion on their own. Losses have been heavy, but we've tied up a panzer and half a dozen infantry that would otherwise have been fighting on the eastern front. The large Anglo-American air force that covers most of eastern England has enjoyed shooting up the Axis troops. There are enough strategic bombers that they've had time to bomb northern Germany. Essen, Cologne and the Ruhr lie in ruins.

Axis's subs attack convoy & DD ! Unbelievable ! They sank the covoy & badly hurt the DD . We have to use DD to escort DD .
In Greece , The British Mech move into Athens to replace the defence job from Greek Corp & will Also land a Australian corp in Salonica ! We will hold Greece as long as possible so that to decrease the pressure of Axis coming Barbarosa !

No Barbarosa this turn . Axis still did not accomplish their Greece mission . We sent more enforcement there . It will be a cancer if Axis launch Barbarosa before conquer Athens .

it is still quiet in the east , but Luftwaffe retreat from Greece front for the coming Barbarosa . Greece will hold for a long time ! It is good footstand in mainland Europe !

Alexandr launched a late Barbarossa in 1941 when he played me. It seems to be his speciality.
We sleep peaceably in our beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on our behalf.

What I'm taking away from this so far is that invading Greece in a 1941 game is a bad idea. With the late Barbarossa it's not so bad, but the British can really screw with Axis plans for May or June.

Barbarossa is not that bad, given the circumstances.

Barbarosa continue at normal speed . Most of elites troops escape to safe place sucessfully .
In Greece , It looks we will be able to hold until maybe 1945 !(unless Axis surrender before 1945)
In France , a small Normandy is coming ....

Barbarosa still in normal progress , & Red army are almost recover from the shock . Most of our mech & tank units are in position to punish any Axis 's more offence in the south . Also our corps are well prepared around Moscow .
In France , We enjoy bomb Axis corps & Gars . Our present purpose is just keep Axis bleeding !
Greece is becoming an Axis cancer which will be difficult to cure .

Barbarosa looks stopped . They have no courage to move forward in front of our great red army ! We are almost ready to start our counter attack ! Maybe next turn .
In France ,we made a small Normandy & try to encircle & take a port ,Maybe next turn .
