Final result of the round - Campi Catalauni
Romans (Edmund) 58/68 vs Huns (Londo) 74/62
Edmund 11.9
Londo 8.5
An interesting and very close game. The Huns looked favourites as they took an early 18 point lead, before the Romans pulled things back a bit by wiping out the Huns Ostrogothic allies quickly. The Huns were still ahead when Attila fell off his horse charging a weaker enemy unit, which weaken Hunnic morale thereafter. The Huns drew all their cavalry into the centre to support there drive to break through against stiff Roman resistance. On turn 6 it was 56 points and the Huns pressed forward again, but somehow, the Roman centre held. It was 59:58 to the Romans when their cavalry from both wings arrived in the centre and the leaderless Hunnic units started to rout, with 15 points added in the last turn. Thanks for the game Paul and a special thanks to Attila whose untimely death made the result possible!

Campi Catalauni
Londo (Romans) 43/68 - Ian (Huns) 62/62

Thanks for the game Ian! A question for Fogman. In this game, Huns pulled back completely from their right flank facing the Romans. The Roman cavalry were unable to chase them, being bottled up behind their own immobile infantry and markers. Was the scenario deliberately designed for this eventuality if the Huns are unaggressive on that flank, and if so, why?

Aetius was a hostage with the Huns as a youth and they helped his rise by providing him with troops in the petty civil wars against his rivals in the preceding decades. From Aetius’ point of view, his main concern was to preserve his Roman troops and let the Foederate bear the brunt of the fighting; that would allow him to control them better once the Huns had moved on. So yes, if they Huns weren’t pressing him, there was good reason to think he wouldn’t do much, as long as he wasn't losing the battle.

We have room. But not until the next round. In the meantime, I need to ascertain you can download the scenarios and enjoy this type of game. Please download Solachon (11 march post) and post me a challenge (no fog of war, no double moves, pw: fogman)

Hi fogman,

I spent nearly three hours trying to figure this out. For the original version I tried placing in Documents>Slitherine>FieldOfGlory Scenarios and still no luck.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

edit: The only DLC I have is Storm of Arrows if that bit of info helps; hopefully me not owning any other of the DLC except the one mentioned doesn't play a factor into this. Thanks again.

we’re using the original (version 1.8.1). I have mac, and i download and unzip it in documents/slitherine/fieldofgloryScenarios. not having all the dlc is not an issue.

also, when you look for the scenario inside the game, it is under the ‘custom game’ tab (game type)

Thank you so much for being patient with me fogman. The extra layer of folder when you first download the file was the problem. I simply clicked into Solachon and simply dragged and dropped the folder by the same name into fieldofgloryScenarios and it worked. I am only explaining this so it may help others who read this.

Challenge is up
pw: fogman

P.S. I didn't know if it is supposed to be paired or not so I issued two challenges. Just choose the correct one and the incorrect one I will remove it.

Thanks again
