Re: To Tame A land 2.0
Macsen the bloody lucky has defeated Pat the parlous dice roller!
macsen (Bulgars) 43/45 defeated phlewis (Komenan Byzantine mercs) 31/31
I lost a FC Pat a TC
If I hadn't ambushed the Byzantine horse archers early on the knights would have had my lancers.
Cheers

Re: To Tame A land 2.0
Ok heres what i think about bringing the campaign to a close. If we are to battle over what provinces are now in each players possesion then this will take some time. Not for me as i think i only have 1 My proposal is for a series of battles where each player is represented by an IC ,if the IC is killed then all his lands go to the winner. This will give everyone equal chance and bring the campaign to an end in a timely fashion. If we continue the way we are then this could well be going for another six months. There is a huge difference between those at the top and those at the bottom and its seems to come down to how many games are played.Ofcoarse the players at the top are doing well in their battles aswell

Re: To Tame A land 2.0
I agree about finding a way to tie the campaign up but not sure if the IC thing will work. I have used one in every battle in this campaign and not lost one I think (er IC, not battle, malheureusement!). Chances are it wouldn't speed things up too much.
If we tie this one up, maybe we can come up with some simple but interesting campaign rules and start a new campaign...?
Maybe we can play one (or two) more rounds and then say the top 4 go through to a knock-out round - i.e., decisive battles where all resources/armies are committed (rather than everyone having brand new fresh armies every season even after a heavy defeat!)
Then the two winners play for 1st and 2nd place and the 3rd and 4th play off for bronze.

Re: To Tame A land 2.0
from the original rules "To win the campaign a player must amass 2500 Renown"
why don't we just make certain seasons earn more victory points in ingenious ways.
ie loot your enemy camp and find lost ark , gain 300 points , kill all generals on the feild 400 points ,
defeat enemy in less than 8 turns 500 point ect .......
keeps the original rules , just speeds it up a little , some could win the campaign in one season.
just an idea

Re: To Tame A land 2.0
Maybe... but it's quite easy to protect your camp/generals if you know they're worth so many points. My fear is it could well still take a long time to finish - after all the rules as they are already reward big wins as opposed to near-run games yet here we are trying to speed things up.
If we go this route, I would suggest at least lowering it to 2000 pts. Or doubling the results of battles?

batesmotel(Nikephorian Byzantines - early) 39/44
macsen (Abbasid Arab) 40/40
Thanks for the game. Macsen's luck was lacking until the last few turns when he almost managed to turn things around. Both camps looted. One Byzantine TC killed. The Abbasids have one FC sub commander left. Not sure if the other(s) were killed or just routed off the map.
batesmotel (Dailami Dynasties-Buyid) 8/35
Aristides (Nikephorian Byzantine - later) 47/43
Thanks for the game. Aristides Byzantines were wrong footed through most of the game trying to maneuver out of the way of the Dailami MF and once the stampede started it never really stopped. A substantial steep hill and some plantations on the Dailami left flank ended up to be too much for the Byzantines to maneuver around before being caught by the Dailami MF.

Re: To Tame A land 2.0
In fact if Bates' Die-limey's hadn't kept rolling only 6s when confronted by holding actions our sweep around their left flank may well have paid dividends. One of those games that looks one-sided (also, I think, to my opponent) but which was in fact quite close. I very really muchly hope the next version will allow replays to be watched - a great learning tool.batesmotel wrote:

I took the field - did i loot your camp in the end? ... You looted mine, neh?

My Khuraz (30/43) defeated Macsen's Arabs (38/37).
Both ICs were present; I think McZen lost a Sub-G? At least at game end there was only an arab IC...

Re: To Tame A land 2.0
Both camps were still on the map when the game ended. Dailami had their IC + TC as did the Byzantines. So I don't think any generals were lost.Aristides wrote:In fact if Bates' Die-limey's hadn't kept rolling only 6s when confronted by holding actions our sweep around their left flank may well have paid dividends. I definitely agree that it would be great to be able to replay a whole game rather than just the last turn at the end. I didn't notice how many 6s I rolled but it could well be true.

Re: To Tame A land 2.0
Sorry folks, but I'm going to have to drop out of this and the other campaign. I'll finish my games that are on-going on both though. I'm having a FOG overload with the LOEG and this at the same time. Again, sorry.

At this rate the winner of the campaign will simply be he who quits last!

Re: To Tame A land 2.0
OK first too business.
Turk, you've only made one challenge! Your supposed to be as keen as mustard!
the only other games to go involve Tiavals, batesmotel and Aristides in various combinations.
Now to finishing this sucker off.
Some good ideas there, but some would only speend things up a bit, some too unwieldy and open to too much luck.
My idea is this. I put everyones name in a hat and pull out pairs of names, those people fight. If you beat the other person for every 50 points your score is greater than theirs you get one of their provinces. If the score is less than 50 then no change. If you lose all your provinces your out. This would certainly give the edge to batesmotel and Aristides as they have more provinces, Pat your likely to go first battle you lose .
For what it's worth my moneys on batesmotel now that The LordTiavals has popped his clogs, or chould I say purrple slippers
So what do you all think?
Aristides I agree, we need better campaign rules and I like the map idea.

Re: To Tame A land 2.0
sounds fair. anyone can win, really but those who have played well in the campaign so far have some advantage.
is 50 pts too much? Not sure what the average win is... looted camps etc. may mean this will not speed things up enough.
Maybe we each play two other players? would speed it up more...
