Winter has now passed.
Spring, Year 2 of the Century of the Enlightened Turbot
The winter has been long and hard and one of the pretenders for the rule of the world has fallen and his lands are up for the taking. RIP Eric the Unwashed. Now with the gret terror of the north gone thw world is for the taking, so while our crops grow let us fight!

It is now spring and the battles must now be fought with 400pts. You may attack two other regions, but to keep a little balance one of your attacks must be on the player who is below you, eg Fedem must fight batesmotel and one other of his choosing. Greetings44, you can fight who ever you like. Every player must accept an attack, that's no limit on the number of times you have to defend.
I will update the charts with batesmotels fall challenges when they finish.
In one week I will start PM'ing people who haven't made their challenges and hopefully keep things moving at a clip.

Fall, Year 1 of the Century of the Enlightened Turbot
A terrible plague has broken out in the barbarian lands of the north (Yersinia pestis if your interested) and ravaged the lands of ericdoman (plague cancelled due to contrary winds). The good news is that phlewis has discovered a large gold deposit under his palace and is now very rich, allowing him to field armies 50 points bigger! (unfortunately it's turned out to be fools gold, the Royal metalurgist has now had a gutful of the stuff, molten)

Everyone will get four games in the first season (two as attacker, two as defender), after which we can descend into a free for all As it is Spring the challenges should be 400 points - REMEMBER that your mercenary army can only be used once per season!

Re: To Forge an Empire 2.0
To Forge an Empire
A Campaign for Field of Glory
Immortal Fire
Background
The Known World abounds with city-states and small nations, all competing for wealth, territory and prestige. However, none of them have your vision, an empire of cities and nations to sprawl across the world...
The Campaign
To win the campaign a player must control six city-states and/or regions, referred to as 'territories'. Territories are assigned based on the player's current Renown score:
0 - 99 No territories
100 - 299 One
300 - 599 Two
600 - 999 Three
1000 - 1499 Four
1500 - 1999 Five
2000+ Six
Each turn represents one season. Seasons affect the number of troops that can be raised:
Spring 400 points
Summer 500 points
Autumn 300 points
Winter Reorganisation
Each player must choose a 'Region' to belong to. This affects which army lists are available, though each faction may have one army list available from another region as a mercenary force. See the scoring section below for the effect of mercenaries. Each winter, a new mercenary army must be chosen. After the first year, each player has the option of choosing a different region (just in case you are hating the lists you have chosen).
The Map
The map is a graphical representation of the current size of each player's empire. It has no strategic function in the campaign but is there for flavour and bragging rights.
https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=40461478 ... 6F26%21220
Armies and Battles
Each player starts with their region's army lists from ‘Immortal Fire’ plus one mercenary list. Any list may be used in each attack (with the exception of the mercenary list which can be used once per season) and can be tailored as required; army composition is not fixed in any way. A non-mercenary list can be used for only one year (three active seasons and winter)- it must then be 'rested' for at least one active season (Spring, Summer or Autumn). A player may attack twice per season.
https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=40461478 ... 6F26%21225
Battles should be fought with Fog of war and Double moves ON. The attacker should host a battle of the relevant size for the season.
Scoring Renown
Battles are where Renown is won and lost.
Battle (Army points / 2) - ( (BP lost / Starting BP) * (Army points / 2) )
Winning +0
Winning with mercenary army -10 (minimum 0)
Own camp looted -20
Enemy commander killed, Troop +5
Enemy commander killed, Field +10
Enemy commander killed, Inspired +20
Resigning a battle -(100 + ( (BP lost / Starting BP) * (Army points / 2) ))
Note: Hellenistic Eleian list may not use Roman allies (nor can any other lists that have slipped through the net )

Re: To Forge an Empire 2.0
Question: non merc army may be used for no more than three consecutive seasons.
So, taking into account 2 attacks + 2 defends, one can use the same army on 12 consecutive battles?
Tks!

Re: To Forge an Empire 2.0
OK, I have a couple of questions:
1. IF i want to change regions, Do I have to do it the first battle of the season?
2. IF I used my regular army all 4 times the first season...can I use my Mercs say 2 times this season and 1 time the next 2 seasons...that would be 4 times (the same as a full season) so my regular army would in effect have rested 4 games. The same as 1 season.
Just checking before we get going..

Re: To Forge an Empire 2.0
The rules are a bit confusing, I'll reword them slightly. You can use a non-merc army list for all three active seasons, as many battles as you have, then have to rest it for a year which is three active seasons.Fedem wrote:Question: non merc army may be used for no more than three consecutive seasons.

Hope that clarifies it.

Re: To Forge an Empire 2.0
1. You can change regions come winter (if you ever tire of Spartans), which is after the three active seasons of course.GrudgeBringer wrote:OK, I have a couple of questions:

2. No, mercs can only be used "once per season", three times for the "year" and then must be changed.
now get going

macsen,
I just checked the rules at the top and an army that has been used for three seasons in a row must be rested for one season, rather than one year.

batesmotel - Rhoxolani Sarmatian 35/43
grudgebringer - Classical Spartan 48/45
After a grueling battle fought over the holy mountain, the gallant Rhoxolani horse archers have succeeded in beating back the Spartan agressors. (The map is the one with a mountain in the middle and fields and a tree line on one side. The battle was fought across the mountain and most of the rest of the amp until finally the accumulated casualties from the Rhoxolani bows and the thinning of the Spartan line due to the terrain and having to cover to much front line lead to the Spartan defeat. Thanks for a great game. No camps were looted although the Spartans got close to the Rhoxolani camp. I believe no commanders were lost. Both armies used ICs. Rhoxolani had the initiative and chose to defend the holy mountain.
