Likewise. Thought it was just me when there were no current complaints on the Tech site in Pike and Shot. I tried FOG 2 and same problem. Is everyone else able to access multiplayer?

Re: War of the Spanish Succession campaign
A messenger has arrived to the court of Paris taking news about the unfolding event in the Italian theatre of war.
He delivered a sketch made by the french commander, showing in details what's happening in the two ongoing battles.
In the first the French are trying to overcome the Austrians entrenched in a strong defensive position with a sweeping flank move.
In the second the fighting is centered around a vast wood lying just in the middle of a plain.
By now the outcome is still in the hands and the hearts of our brave soldiers!
Let's hope they will prevail!
Allez le Bourbons!

thanks Lysimachos, your reports make it feel like I’m right there in the midst of history
about the multiplayer login issues—whenever I’ve had similar problems
clearing the cache and restarting the game client seems to do the trick

Re: War of the Spanish Succession campaign
Italian theatre of war
Open Battle scenario
French vs Austrians 23% - 55%
The French army in Italy scored a strategic victory against its Austrian opponent after a bloody battle fought on a plain crowded in the middle by a dense wood which prevented each general to deploy their men in a more common fashion.
Due to the nature of the terrain the two wings were much more manned than usual while in the center mainly operated light infantry detachments mixed with some supporting musketeers unit.
After a dogged fight in the woods and lethal exchanges of fire volleys in the open the french army gained the control of the forested area and managed to sustain the enemy pressure on the left flank, while the day was decided by a massive cavalry charge on the right flank.

Re: War of the Spanish Succession campaign
Italian theatre of war
Attack scenario
French vs Austrians 25% - 50%
At the end of a bloody encounter the french army gained a tactical victory over their austrian foes, that were entrenched in a strong defensive position. The french plan envisaged an enveloping move on the right flank made by the best infantry units (Guards, Grenadiers, Irish Brigade and Veteran musketeers + LG) supported by the flower of the cavalry.
Nevertheless the austrian commander was swift to respond to this action redeploying his units in the endangered sector where the french were fiercely contested and weren't able to prevail, being stopped in a vicious fight.
Surprisingly, instead, the day was decided on the left flank where the remaining Bourbon units slowly obtained the upper hand on their opponent, probably exploiting a local superiority of numbers and some lucky volleys that disrupted the enemy soldiers though taking cover behind light fortifications.
At the end of the battle the french general praised the valour of the enemy, recognizing that the numbers of routed troops didn't tell the entire truth in regard to the toughness of the fight.

Re: War of the Spanish Succession campaign
North America
Open battle
French Colonial defeat British Colonial 15%-49%.
Turn 5 - view from the French left flank were the decisive action was developing.

French regulars on the hill in the centre are engaged in a slowly losing exchange with their counterparts while on the French left our colonials and native auxiliaries were already routing and turning the British right.
Turn 7 - view from French right flank at the close.

French regulars on the hill have suffered greatly under murderous enemy fire but have held long enough for the collapse of the British right along with their will to continue. The parties retired to the French camp to discuss the terms of the British withdrawal.

Well done Mark!
You really are the rebirth of Montcalm!
Up till now the first shots of the campaign are undeniably in Bourbon favour!

North America
Attack scenario (small, narrow, wooded).
French Colonial army defeat British Colonial army 10-44.
Turn 7 view from the French camp.

The regulars manoeuvre up the right to bypass the seemingly unfinished fortifications of Fort Mud while our native friends venture into the woods on the left after seeing off an ill-conceived foray by Dragoons.
Turn 11 view from behind the French right flank.

After the French regulars achieved their positions flanking the British fortifications on the right they brought this action to a head with concentrated fire on the end of the British line, the results devastating the front enemy ranks. Despite a last desperate cavalry charge, breaking two units (the Officers in charge shall be relieved), it was not enough stem the flood of fleeing redcoats.

Re: War of the Spanish Succession campaign
I have the pleasure of reporting to the Glorious King of all the French that the ungodly army army led by the fat King of England has been crushed, first we stormed their defences and then smashed them on the open field of honour.
I would like to add Doyley played well and was a touch unlucky with some of the outcomes
Scores were 52-20 and 49-37

Re: War of the Spanish Succession campaign
That's a no!
In the defensive battle, from my point of view, the Alliance was slaughtered 3 - 49, or something like that, not surprisingly I am trying to erase it from my memory.
The other battle is more even, could it be otherwise? However at my doctors recommendation I have retreated to Madeira for a week to relieve the stress of fighting Gribol's Bourbons and shorten the English Winter. No computers allowed so there will be a hiatus until the 7th February. No doubt a Bourbon victory will be announced sometime the following week.
