Fall In 2010: October 30, 2010

Post by babyshark »

I have been meaning (and forgetting) to post this for some time now. There will be FoG:R at Fall In.

Meet the FoGRs

Field of Glory Renaissance. A non-competetive event of three, three hour, sessions.
Players bring starter list armies in 15mm or 25mm scale. Matchups will be made from opponents available. Play as many sessions as you like.

Saturday 9:00am to noon, 2:00-5:00, 7:00-10:00.
GM will bring both a 25mm and a 15mm army.

Well, I have cobbled together an army to give it a try. The figs are mixed nationalities, but the right types (I think  )

I guide your attention to the following statement in my OP: "Players bring starter list armies in 15mm or 25mm scale."

Would it be beyond the pale to ask for start lists specific's?

Most manufactor's have a break down.... Not trying to circumvent any sales, but am trying to determine if I want to go down this road (beyond my Poles/Turks)...

At the least the only armies I could do currently are the aforementioned Turks.

Anyone have the starter list for that they wouldn't mind sharing...

Hush, lest we genuine Beltway types sue you for having to listen to Dan bitching about the bad back he got from carrying you in the Lisbon tourney.

Scott, if you show up I'll buy you an army book.

How many players are possible?

John,

We're still waiting for you to make the trek north of the Mason-Dixon line... I think you scared of actually playing people with a small amount of talent... 8)

Its one of those chicken-egg questions. I've got the turks, but probably not enough for a army. I've got the poles, but none are painted due to not knowing the basic starter army configuration....

Just saying, with FoG:R being as new as it is, and lets face it, here in the US calling renaissance a fringe gaming period is probably giving it too much credit, I would have taken a different marketing strategy than ancients... I think they have released the basic starter armies to some of the miniature companies in order for them to sell/package their wares... One of the biggest hurdles Slitherine will face with sustained sales will be capturing the interest of the gamer not familiar with this period.

Madcam.

I must admit I thought the Poles could have been included inbook 1, that would have helped to get the game going even more as the Winged Hussars are easiliest the best looking painted troops in the era.

Scott, Scrumpy, will you two make it to Fall In?

I'll have you know I just played the Movie Star himself and he should qualify as having a "little bit of talent".

John,

As much as I'd like too #1 son has a soccer tournament that weekend. Gaming outside of the occasional weekday game has taken a back seat to life.

No Fall in for me this year. The Memsahib wants to go on the rally to keep fear alive with Jon Stewart & Stephen Colbert that Saturday in DC.

Not wanting to keep 'one fear' alive suggests I should aquiese to her request lol

My lovely femanazi is going to the same rally.
I am trying to manipulate so we drop her off and continue to Lancaster.

I would rather play Renaissance than collect thinning scalps in the Open.
