Scottish League 2011

Post by nikgaukroger » Wed Nov 03, 2010 7:34 pm

Alan Cutner has asked me to post this.

Scottish League 2011

The Scottish League consists of several one-day singles competitions held through 2011. The first two rounds will be

22nd January (hosted by Dumfries)
27th February (hosted by Perth)

We expect to anounce a further three rounds for 2011 in due course.

Event champions will be declared for each category at each event, based on individuals total scores in the category at the event.

Overall Scottish League champions will be declared for each category that has featured in at least three of the years one-day events. The overall results will be based on the individuals total scores in the category during the year.

Overall club champions will also be declared for each category that has featured in at least three of the years one-day events. A club may nominate upto three players as their team within each category at each one-day event. The composition of the team may vary from one event to another (ie. unlimited substitutions) - but no-one may represent more than one club during the year. The overall club results within a category will be based on the total scores of the clubs nominated players through the year.

Several rules-sets and figure scales will be offered for each one-day event. However the organisers reserve the right to cancel the competition for any category where insufficient entries are received to make it viable.

The rules and scales offered are:
DBM 15mm & 25mm
DBMM 15mm & 25mm
FoG-AM 15mm & 25mm
FoG-R 6mm, 15mm and 25mm
FoW
WAB

NB: Unless specifically authorised by the organisers no player may use an army from the same list at more than one round during the year.

Each round of the Scottish League will consist of two games. The hosts of the event may make the venue available for additional friendly games.

The draw in all games will be done according to the Swiss Chess system. Players accumulated scores during the year will be used when determining the draw. Members of a club team at an event will not be drawn against each other. Where possible club members will not be drawn against each other – but this cannot be guaranteed.

Competition rules and scoring systems will be those published by the BHGS unless stated otherwise by the Scottish League organisers.

Cost will be £8 per round, or £15 if two rounds are booked together.
Admission to the Scottish League is at the sole discretion of the organisers and their decision on all matters is final. By playing in the Scottish League you give the organisers the right to keep information about you and your team. This information will be confidential to the organisers of the Scottish League, except for competition results which will be published as the organisers see fit. An application to enter the Scottish League denotes acceptance of these rules.

Does that mean we have 2/3rds of a team?
I'd prefer 15mm but could do 25mm at a push.
Will Gary make up the numbers?

As Sassanachs are we allowed to compete?
As you know I spend a lot of my time north of the border!

Hi Bert :D

As you know it's 25mm or nothing for me.

To be honest I am suprised that 25mm is being offered in so many periods (even FOG R) and it may be that some of them will not run.

I usually find the natives reasonably friendly - we should be OK in 2011 as no international football championships are taking place.

Lets see how it goes

We offered a range of periods as its a new competition and new format for Scotland. Inevitably some periods/scales will drop by the wayside (in the next few days) due to lack of interest, and others will be confirmed.

Do you need an actual booking or is an expression of interest enough at the moment?

Expression of interest is enough. Very simply, those periods where no interest has been shown will be dropped.

The Dumfries competitions have been cancelled , which is a real shame. I hope to get to Perth in February.

To confirm. Unfortunately there were insufficient entries for a viable competition. The Dumfries show still goes ahead. Details of the Perth round of the Scottish League will be published in the next few days.

Any news on Perth? Venue and what is going to be played would be good - I'm hoping for some interest in 25mm FOG AM

The Perth round of the Scottish League will be held on 26th February.

Venue: Luncarty Juniors Football Club Social Club, Main Road, Luncarty, PH1 3EP

Having taken a number of useful comments and previous expressions of interest into account the tournament format has been amended to the following -

* This will be a 15mm FoG-AM tournament. (Unfortunately there has been insufficient interest shown in other periods/scales).
* There will be three games each lasting a maximim of 2hrs 20min, plus a random 0-10 minutes.
* Maximum army size is 650pts.
* Table size is 5'x3'.
* Scoring is the usual 0-25 system.
* Any published army list may be selected.

Special rules -

* Terrain rules as normal except that each player’s choice is reduced to 2 or 3 optional pieces and no piece can be bigger than 9 inches in any direction. No double size pieces may be used.
* Deployment is at 8" and 12" inches rather than the usual 10" and 15".
* Play will stop at the end of the current bound being played, before the JAP, ie. an equal number of bounds is not guaranteed.

Timetable for the day is
Registration 08:00 - 08:30
Game 1 08:30 - 11:00
Game 2 11:15 - 13:45
Game 3 14:15 - 16:45

Each club may nominate up to three players as their club team, their scores counting towards the club championship at the end of the year. Where possible club team members will not be drawn against each other. Also, where possible, member of the same club will not be drawn against each other in the first round. Family members will not be drawn against each other in any round.

All entries to me by 19th February. Cost £8. Address 3 Grey Street, Larkhall, South Lanarkshire, ML9 2BP

Army lists to Hunter Hope by 19th February, HunterHope@pkc.gov.uk
