DLC: Captured Units
Just for curiosity:
How long are foreign units captured ?
Just for the scenario or do they even become core units ??
TIA

A captured unit appears automatically after you took a city (at the start of the following turn). Ofcourse the city is not one with a victory hex.Naxor wrote:I dont know how to capture them. Should i destroy the trains or only the units around them. :/
In some maps you can find such a unit, but not in every map ofcourse.
A captured unit takes up 1 core slot, can be upgraded, and i'm sure the ones you'll find, you gonna like it .

Staying bothersome:
Let's say i play scenario No. x in DLC '39.
Capture one unit -> +1 core unit. (Right ?)
Winning (of course) i then play scenario No. x+1
In this scenario i should get +1 core unit at the start.
Now what happens ??
Do i get it or does it say "Hey, you already have gotten one extra core unit and that's it !"

Scenario x= 15 core units, you find a captured unit = +1 core, so you have 16 core units from this moment.huertgenwald wrote:Staying bothersome:

Scenario x+1 can be 16 core slots: so you can deploy your 15 units and the one you captured
Scenario x+1 can also be 15: that means you cannot deploy one core unit, but you can always decide which one not to use (you don't lose the unit, it is being kept aside). If you would lose a core unit during this scenario, than you will be able to deploy the one kept aside.
Scenario x+2 can be 16 , so then you can use them all. There will be a scenario sooner or later where you can deploy every core unit you possess.

If you capture too many units and not enough core slots are open in the following scenario, well then it's time to put the 'reserves' function into use.

The only upgrade path for captured equipment is German equipment. Upgrading can be done during the deploy phase.Shrike wrote:I only recall capturing Polish artillery in Warsaw in the '39 campaign. Haven't been able to upgrade it though. Is it really possible without disbanding or switching to another unit of the same category entirely?
Otherwise we might run into situations where someone captures a Matilda II in 1940, and magically upgrades it into a Firefly in 1944.
Think of these captured units as temporary bonuses. You get a free unit that you cannot normally acquire. You can keep it and use it, or sell it for a prestige boost. By the time the unit gets outdated, you can choose to sell it then, or if you want to preserve the experience/leaders of the unit, you can upgrade it by giving the unit German equipment.

3 artillery units are marked as aux units and one as core.Fimconte wrote:You can capture only one unit per scenario?
I had four "Captured 105 wz.29"s in Warsaw North, but at the start of Spoils of War (Or Oslo) I only have one in my core.
Is it not a good deal that you can keep at least one?
It is possible to design a scenario where you can capture 50 units, but what would be the fun of that?
Units you can keep are scattered over various scenario's, but never more than 1 per scenario.
It's not mentioned in the briefing that you can't keep all the liberated artillery pieces.nikivdd wrote: 3 artillery units are marked as aux units and one as core.

I didn't notice it on the map, but it's not a huge issue anyway.
And well, while nice as flavour items, I find that selling them is more prudent as you'll pay the full upgrade cost if you want to upgrade them into German units.
Although I find myself flush with prestige on Field Marshal.
Having 10 artillery pieces was nice though, helped in the cleansing of Warsaw.
