The Worlds 2014 - let's get started

Post by Martin0112 »

We can announce "The Worlds 2014" to be held in Germany.
Our goal is to have players from all over the world meeting there for a weekend of historical wargaming in multiple different systems as well as having lots of fun outside the games.

We have now the place as well as the date fixed.

The Worlds 2014 will start on Friday, August 15th and end on Sunday, August 17, 2014
The place is the Rhein-Mosel-Halle in Koblenz.

We have already several tournaments planned as follows:
  • DBMM (15mm)
  • DBM (15mm)
  • DBR (15mm)
  • FOG:AM (15mm)
  • FOG:N (15mm)
  • FOG:R (15mm)
  • Lasalle (28mm)
  • WAB (28mm)
We are still checking if we can also offer the following systems:
  • DBA (15mm or 28mm)
  • Impetus (28mm)
  • SAGA (28 mm)
  • WRG 6th (15mm)
We also will have several vendors and demogames there.

All the details can be seen on our brand-new webpage http://www.komicon.de/the-worlds-2014/
We have also reserved about 150 hotel rooms for you to book directly on this page.

I'm hoping for lots of players to join us there.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me.

Best regards

Martin

Hi Martin, could you copy this to the Fog R and Fog N forums please as some people will miss it if it is only here.

Okay - so I've registered on the T system.

How do I sign up for the competition?

Easy... select the tournament you want to join, it's easier by changing the language in your profile to english :)

If you are on 'the Worlds' webpage, select Insciption on the left hand side
Then you see lots of entries, one for each tournament.
Click the one you want to join and it will redirect you to the Sign-Up-page

Does this help?

It says you can change the army later. So I think you just pick anything you like at this stage.

Exactly Alan,
I will regularly change all army entries to '100 year wars English (Britian)', so please don't be surprise.
This is like a standard entry :)

Booking of hotel rooms is now online.
Click on hotels on tehwebpage, and fill out the form at the ottom of the page.
This will then be sent to our booking agency, and you will get a confirmation from the hotels (this might take a while)

21 places of the 64 for FOG-AM are already booked.
So, if you want to be part of The Worlds for FOG-AM, you should be quick registering for this fantastic event!

Probably won't be booking anything until the new year. Would be interested in knowing other peoples plans.

OK, time for some serious travel planning.

Which is the "best" airport to arrive at from UK (after Britcon) please - Cologne or Frankfurt - if I want to spend a few days before the Worlds travelling towards Koblenz, visiting castles, historical sites, vineyards etc?

Many thanks

When I went to marksburg (quite near to Koblenz) I flew into Frankfurt. Although cologne is equi-distant.

I'd recommend you get a hire car. MAKE SURE TO GET SAT NAV. And don't park on the right hand side of the road.

I'll leave it to martin or one of the locals to comment about castles - but I would recommend marksburg as a good castle to visit. In good condition, superb views and not that big.
