Derby World Teams - 4 & 5 October 2014

Post by petedalby »

The Derby World Wargames Site has been updated with details of the 3 periods for this year's World Teams competition to held again at Castle Donnington.

http://www.worldwargames.co.uk/

Go to the Competitions tab on the left for the period information. This event features an excellent trade show and is usually very well attended.

The Hampshire Hogs team entry is already on its way. Hope to see you there.

In period 3 the organisers have excluded the Later Ottomans so there are no Janissaries. However, under the Later Serbian list it is possible to take Later Ottomans as an ally within the time period 1302 to 1388 AD. Was this an error or are they allowed?

I believe the answer is 'yes - they are allowed' but I will check with the organisers and get back to you.

Marc Lunn has confirmed that the Later Ottomans are permitted Bob and he was so moved by your appeal that they will now be permitted in their own right as well.

How cool is that?!

And bizarrely, had you not asked the question, they would have been out. Just like England really. :(

We need to drop Rooney. But his first ever world cup goal may save him - hope I'm wrong.

Sorry - strayed off topic. :( :(

just noticed the date range 1302 - 1388 for the "cry of the almughavar" period precludes almughavars from the later sicilian list. was this intentional? they are only allowed before 1301. or is that why they are crying...

Just back from hols Dave so apologies for the delay. I've checked with the organisers and the date range is correct. The theme is the Catalan Co - not almughavars in general.

Hope that helps.

Does
"No army may field more than 16 bases of mounted troops "
mean that you can choose troops that dismount and then only field a max of 16 bases mounted on table, the rest having got off their horses to please the Gods?

All,

To clarify:

re: Phil's query - the list may only contain 16 bases of mounted troops - dismounting cannot be assumed and cannot be used to get around the limit

Later Ottomans ARE ALLOWED in pool3 - I have asked DWA to post this on their website, which hopefully should be effected in the next couple of days

Thanks Marc

makes a difference to army choice.
But I don't think saying you could only deploy 16 mounted bases, remainder dismounting if allowed (if not allowed they cannot deploy), would have been a bad thing and would have increased army choice.

Some Feudal Germans, Franks and Merovingians, instead of mainly Anglo Danes and Oirish.

15 confirmed teams for this year's compettition - up on last year

Unfortunately the odd numbers mean that we are looking at a bye situation. I'm happy to accept individual entries to reduce the need for this - please either let me know or contact the organisers

Cheers

Looks like it, although there is currently a bit of confusion about how many players are coming from France. Nice to see an Italian team this year as well.

R&R will appear on here once I get all the entries

Does it matter where you (or I for that matter) is concerned? If you turn up late you restrict your opponent to 20 pts hence helping the team :p
