Very exciting Geoff! Expect a big Melbourne contingent. Hopefully some Kiwis take advantage of their long weekend and join us too!

Re: FOGN tournament in Sydney
Interested, but have a course which I'm doing on Saturdays. The course may be on break, or I may only be doing the half speed course by that stage (not sure yet, it's pretty intensive) so may have to miss the first game or the first two games.
If I'm really lucky they will be on a semester break... but I doubt it

Re: FOGN tournament in Sydney
Good luck Geoff with your event. We've got ours the following weekend. Should be a hoot for FoGN enthusiasts. Regards.
Re: FOGN tournament in Sydney
Thanks Lawrence. Hope you have a big showing for the big boy 28mm comp
Re: FOGN tournament in Sydney
Lol. Thanks. Put me down as a possible. I'll be working in Sydney so should finally make the event. Just have to gather a suitable 15mm Bavarian list for the event.geoff wrote:Thanks Lawrence. Hope you have a big showing for the big boy 28mm comp

I will be using my Prussians so can lend you either of the following if you can't get the Bavarians together;
1805 Russians
1809/1812 French
1815 Anglo Netherlands
Re: FOGN tournament in Sydney
As promised, here is the list I will be using;
1815 Prussian
CC Skilled
1st Div Competent
small average veteran reformed line infantry - rifle skirm attach
large average drilled reformed line infantry - cavalry attach
small average conscript reformed line infantry
small average drilled horse artillery
small average drilled lancers
2nd Div Competent
small average veteran reformed line infantry - rifle skirm attach
large average drilled reformed line infantry
small average conscript reformed line infantry
small average drilled medium artillery
large average conscript lancers
3rd Div Competent
large average drilled reformed line infantry - rifle skirm attach
small average drilled reformed line infantry
small average conscript reformed line infantry
small average drilled medium artillery
I will not be eligible for any placings. After my recent showing in Melbourne I doubt that will be an issue
Discussions at the Melbourne comp showed me that scenario games are very popular. In light of this we will now be playing 2 scenarios each day - 3.5 hours each. I will finalise the list soon but basically I am stealing the scenarios used in Melbourne. The original post for this thread will be updated to reflect changes in due course.

Re: FOGN tournament in Sydney
I've just finished painting the trophies for the comp. The priest is 3rd place, the rifleman 2nd and the French Colonel is 1st. They are from the Perry 40mm range. Naturally they will be based and labelled by the time of the comp.

Lookin' good mate.
I might finally break out one of my Non-Austrian armies for competition.

Re: FOGN tournament in Sydney
I only had 14 units at the LOA comp! Sure 6 of them were large.
My British can get pretty big if I max out the Spanish allies. My Swedes and French tend to be less large as both feature a few Guard regiments.
I think it might be the Swedes turn.

Re: FOGN tournament in Sydney
Crikey ! That all sounds very sensible.
I can stitch together a very large 1812 Russian infantry army amassing some 38 ACV ... it's tough to beat in any competition time-frame, but also not the easiest to press an opponent for a result. Very very solid though and with plenty of cavalry (inc 5 units of dragoons !). Have only run it in straight-up 800pt games so I have no idea how it'd shape up in the scenario context ... hmmmm, there's some homework required then !

Re: FOGN tournament in Sydney
So looking hopeful that we might see you in Sydney in October Keith? Any other Kiwis thinking of coming I wonder? I've written one new scenario (Talavera) that play tested pretty well on the weekend. Aiming for a few more to be ready by then.
Re: FOGN tournament in Sydney
Only 5 weeks to go before the comp.
I have uploaded some resources that will be of use. Just paste in the url below;
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/h7e6n3h9rj6r ... yZ3La?dl=0
We are using the successful Victorian clarifications as well as all the latest official ones. Unfortunately the download site for Fog does not have these available so having them here will be handy.
Could I please get an indication of who is coming for certain as well as those who are fairly likely to come. We have 5 confirmed so far.

Re: FOGN tournament in Sydney
Hi Geoff. Sorry but I won't be attending. Good gaming with your event. Cheers.
Re: FOGN tournament in Sydney
No worries Lawrence. Drop me a line later in the year/early next year and we'll get some social games in
Re: FOGN tournament in Sydney
Hi all,
We still only have 5 confirmed for the comp. We have to confirm one way or the other with the venue. As it stands it is not worth running. However, if anyone has booked flights/accommodation etc. Please let me know by this Tuesday night. I will make the final call then.

Re: FOGN tournament in Sydney - Cancelled
Hi again,
Sadly we do not have the numbers to go forward with this comp so I am cancelling it.

Sorry to hear about your tournament, Geoff. Distance can be a crock sometimes.geoff wrote:Hi again,

Off-topic: Apologies for hijacking your thread in advance, mate. Interest up here in Brisbane (yeah, I'm back in Brissy) is waning for FoGN with my gaming group moving onto a new Nap set because it's local and much more accessible. I guess patience is not a virtue sometimes. Cheers.
