Plus there were a lot of home guard types defending the homeland
We have made 1 strategic error and a few minor forgets but essentially you can't stop a determined axis who doesnt have to buy leaders - will be interesting to see Barbarossa - I have the turn but am away from PC

there were a lot of home guard produced to defend England! hence the losses
Barbarossa begins with an assault in the south
we can't see whats happening in the North yet , will they advance there next turn? they may have been held up by the need to flood units to England as that would have taken rail points
no matter as we run trying to save our good units - we are happy to give some ground
In Persia its messy as the Axis assault begins - our priority here is to get control of the air

ok so its fortress europa for the Axis in Russia while they attack in Persia, we couldn't quite slow them down long enough for them to run out of oil, now they will have plenty for a while
they grind forward in Persia while we try for air superiority - they have lots of heavy units to bring forward from the south
we get what we wanted in the UK - the Luftwaffe arrives, better they are here for now
we will evacuate most of our UK units

How is the new air base rules affect the play in the Middle East. Guess it's hard to place air units everywhere now since you must be adjacent to a resource or in a clear hex.
Re: Duncan vs Supermax 4.0 charlie (no Supermax please)
makes it very hard!
Re: Duncan vs Supermax 4.0 charlie (no Supermax please)
I see @supermax's Italian (2) and German fighters based on desert-hill terrain thus helping to build double defensive line in northern Irak. I remember that one of the goals of the changes in air bases rules was to avoid that: using air units for building double defensive lines. Shouldn't this type of terrain (desert-hills) be also banned from being possible to base air units?Stauffenberg wrote:How is the new air base rules affect the play in the Middle East. It is, but maybe Supermax didn't install the latest updates. I noticed a Soviet fighter south of Tbilisi in a mountain hex. Strange

In 3.2 you can place an air unit in Mountain or swamp terrain if you do so when it is first built. Has this changed in 4.0? That could explain the Tbilisi FTR. But not Max's double line.
We sleep peaceably in our beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on our behalf.

That is a bug. I found it and fixed it. A thread with a hotfix to the updated game.class file is created in the main forum folder. The link is here:GogTheMild wrote:In 3.2 you can place an air unit in Mountain or swamp terrain if you do so when it is first built. Has this changed in 4.0? That could explain the Tbilisi FTR. How is Barbarossa going with so many Russian units in southern Russia and Persia?
Re: Duncan vs Supermax 4.0 charlie (no Supermax please)
there is no barbarossa yet juts moved up to the river line - there will be a double defensive line though for the Germans, I am just moving up to that line now
