WAD? Debarking Infantry, Do Something Without Moving First?
Whether debarking from an helicopter or a land vehicle, the debarking unit cannot do anything, except to move off, after which it can do anything, not restricted by the rules.
Is this WAD?
It would be nice if that wasn't the case.

An infantry unit and an MRAP both start the turn inside an FOB. First the MRAP loads up the inf unit, and then moves several hexes out into open ground, stops and debarks the inf unit. Now select the inf unit; it has 3 AP's to use, but the only way it can spend any is by first moving. First after having moved into a new hex may it search for IED's, or go into ambush mode. It's the same situation if you unload an inf from an helicopter.
Is this the intended behavior?

Yes, if I am underatdning you correctly, the infantry after disembarking from vehicle/helo are deposited and then have full AP to perform whatever they want to do, correct behaiviour.
What would you prefer the sequence to be ??

Re: WAD? Debarking Infantry, Do Something Without Moving Fir
I don't think you should ever have to move to a new hex first to then be able to perform an action, which has nothing to do with the movement itself. It feels clunky, like it was poorly programmed, because I can't for the life of me think of a reason for doing it. Just let the unit do anything for which it has enough AP's. Very simple and straight forward. It would streamline play and not really change anything, other than to make the life of the player easier. And I'm sure, after enough time I'll run into a situation, where having to move to a new hex first will prevent me from positioning a unit to where I really want it to be. But currently, it's just a PITA to always have to think, okay, I want the unit to end there and go into Ambush Mode, so I have to unload in this hex and then move into that one, after unloading. It's really like no other game I've ever played.

Re: WAD? Debarking Infantry, Do Something Without Moving Fir
The choice of hex to deposit is the main decision, the fact that the vehicle/helo lands one hex off set is not the issue, the unit AP is totally unaffected, its a visual thing, so maybe we can agree to disagree on this one ?
Thanks for the feedback thoug, very much appreciated

Well, when unloading from vehicles, infantry always does have to leave the vehicle hex, sooo..... isn't that moving off the vehicle hex?
I guess we'll just have to disagree on this
