V2 Cavalry heavy v light in Terrain

Post by pugsville »

My reading the rules has heavier cavalry versus light being better in rough terrain than the open, as the dice additions are bigger relative to the number of dice. Thus Heavy cavalry is more likely to win in rough difficult terrain than in the open in the v2 rules right now. Seems wrong.

(of course if i get it wrong please inform me)

Shock v LC in open 7 dice v 5 dice. in rough or difficult 5 dice v 3 dice.

Is that a big issue or different from v1?

In difficult heavy used to loss 1 in 2 dice to lights 1in 3.

v2 has made heavy cavalry better v light in difficult.

We are considering a simplification to essentially remove all the various combat modifiers for being on a horse while in rough/difficult.

So mounted will get 4 dice ('other' situations) hitting on 4+, or 5+ if Cossacks or opponents are in square.
Flank/rear support and artillery attachments still apply.

Is that Cossacks hit their opponents on 5+ or ARE HIT on 5+

And when you mean Cossacks do you mean all irregular light cavalry?

Would facing light cavalry mod + to hit. If so it's pretty decisive, Heavy cavalry will usually roles lighter in rough and difficult terrain.

cruisers face hussars in difficult 4 dice hitting on 3;s v 4 dice hitting on 4's.

The latest version has all mounted who are not in the open losing all of their normal bonuses for being on a horse.
So all mounted will get 4 dice (for 'other situations') needing a 4+ to hit (except for irregular light cavalry, who need their usual 5+)

So hussars and cuirassiers are on even combat terms in rough or difficult terrain.
