I'll have to try again tomorrow. The Japanese have quite a force in this scenario.
The Japs attack in force on the bridge. Have your At behind your infantry, arty in place, use the river north to your advantage. Easy then.

I have made it to the assault on Rangoon. I can make good progress on the flanks, but there is a lot of IJA units around Rangoon. I also seem to run out of supply getting to Rangoon and my extra points seem to evaporate. It is fun to shoot down that Japanese Jet! I am trying to figure out a way around the Rangoon defenses without shredding my units. I have restarted the scenario four times which is unusual for me. I want to use as many armor vehicles as I can, but I might have to do it with less. I am using more SAS than I am used to.

Havent made it that far yet. But siege situations mean heavy arty, start assaults with flame units (engineers, flame tanks), seek a breakthrough and then seize supply.

Well I've finished Sittang Bridge and it was one of the hardest scenarios of all for me. Spoilers ahead

The Japanese have at least 3 tanks and many infantry that attack Sittang as soon as the player captures it. After a few turns of fierce defense, the hapless player must face japanese units trespassing on their territory all the way South-East, near the starting point of the mission. If you haven't set some kind of reargard there, you're are cut from supply, and worst of all, the 2nd Indian unit will be under attack as soon as it'll spawn.
It took me 2 tries to finish that scenario. On the second try, I left some units near the mission starting point as well as two infantry units and an anti-tank in the forest midway between the starting point and Sittang. I also left some mines East of Sittang, around the small river, to make up for the absence of the units I left behind. That way I was able to dramatically slow down the enemy advance. The 2nd and 3rd Indian units were far less of a chore to escort. In the final turns, after I repelled their Southern attack, the Japanese were simply nowhere to see.

The hardest thing was, on both tries, that I was desperatly lacking in Resource Points, always around 12-15 each turn. I really think the scenario could give a bit more to the player each turn, like increasing the income from 10 to 15 or something.

Also I deployed 4 fighters and enemy planes were never a problem, but my air units took a beating. Now my core fighters are all about 5-6 HP. I really hope the next mission (Rangoon) will give me enough resources to make up for the recent losses or it's going to be a real mess lol.

A final note: with all that said, I might sound like I'm complaining, but I'm not. In this scenario I really felt like the enemy was putting up a serious fight; and I felt like in the movies, when the commander, bent over his map, take his head in his hands and say "This is bleak... the situation is worst than we thought >:|"

Whoa, that is strange. I experienced the complete opposite. For me, it was camping around the bridge rotating units in and out of the front line and hammering hapless Japanese with my heavy arty. They never bothered to attack my rear. Most challenging things was having a clear path trough my massed units for the Indians to escape.
What is your force composition? I go for mostly lightinf, light AT, this time heavy Arty, tons of Spitfires and 1-2 tanks.

I have had to restart Rangoon Assault again. I can get down to Rangoon and have even destroyed the two IJA Fuel Depots, but the IJA reserve is kicking me and destroying my best units. I had a Beaufort I changed into a Wellington and it is great to destroy the Fuel Depots. I have to leave units behind to garrison the roads that come in from the side. I tried this last time with only two tank units and another couple of Infantry units. There us not much deference in results. Are there areas I am missing that give more points? I notice I earned about 200 more back around turn 20.

Maybe the Japanese only attack your rear if you play on a certain difficulty mode? I play on Normal. If you do too, then I don't know...

For this mission my composition was light infantry, two or three engineers, two tanks, two anti-tanks, one artillery unit (the most powerful available), and 3 Spitfires and 1 Hurricane. And a recon armored car. But keeping all these people at full strength was impossible for me in this scenario.

@koopanique: I play at normal, too. I am not kondi. I can post a screenshot of my defensive position later on. Thank God i save obsessively.
One arty is not enough, btw. Should be two.

I'd like to have 2, and I had 2 at some point, but one got destroyed in the previous scenario (which was kind of hard on my units too), and I don't have enough funds for a new one. Maybe during the deployment phase of the next mission, I'll have enough RP to get a new one.
EDIT: A screenshot of your defensive position would be welcome too! Always glad to see what it looks like in other people games.

As you see, tight formation. Open up just for the Indians to pass through. AT behind, use the river to your advantage. Spot with Spitfires, prioritise arty fire on difficult targets.
Did this help?

Thanks!
Well my defensive line looked like suspiciously like this, except my units had far less HPs than yours. How did you even keep that many units at full strength? o.o And I had my units go one or two hexes more North.
Anyway, I don't plan on redoing this scenario now I have completed it (at a price, but still). I've given enough sweat on that one for now. I just hope Rangoon will be a bit easier on me :)

I began elite reinforcing after 1 star experience. This way, they take less damage, dish out more and lose less efficiency. Also, weaking the Japs with arty saves money.
More north means you cannot use the river for your advantage - they attack with full strength then.

And Rangoon is hard. Dont loiter.

What unit can Ghandhi be captured in Bombay?

People with different styles have different results. I am still trying to get through Rangoon. I get to Rangoon Defense lines with little problem. The IJA tank units are formidable! You can kill them with Infantry, but that wears them out quick. If you spend all your replacement points by the time you get to the Rangoon Defense Line you are going to have a hard time replacing losses. The Japanese Air Force comes out to play several times and the only way to stop it is to take all the airfields. Taking the airfields in the Southeast triggers IJA Reserves to counterattack. Certain IJA units (Snipers) have to be cleaned out behind your lines or your supply will be disrupted. I find I have to leave a unit to block IJA attacks when I get down to the Rangoon Defense Line that cross the rivers. The good news is I know now where the IJA Fuel Depots are. I find Wellingtons can take them out.

Ungi, take a look at this thread. It will explain what to do and it includes a screen print of how Gandhi looks (on the map, not in the popup message, I mean - he is attached to a Rioters unit). By random chance, Gandhi is waiting for you in one of four locations on the map which you must police and battle your way to get to. That thread also explains how to capture him when you get there.

I have to admit the game is more difficult than during beta testing.
It's probably caused by fewer CPs during the first scn.
In addition, the British infantry is probably weaker now. It seems to me that some rates have been reduced because they get a lot more damage, especially from the Japanese infantry.
Sittang river scn is very demanding now. The Japanese attack almost immediately with a large number of units from north and west.
I defended the bridge at the highest level of difficulty, but remained only 19 RPs at the end.

Glad to see I'm not the only one struggling with Sittang! Andy2012 made it sound like it was pretty easy. I can't even imagine how hard it must be to repel the Japanese both North and South-West in hard mode, especially since it stretches the lines so much (you can only spare so many units to guard the southern part of the map).

@koopanique: Well, I was never attacked from the south. I camped my forces around the bridge and they ran right into my lines. Suicidal.

You mean east, right? West is safety beyond the bridge.
I played on medium and I was never attacked at the starting point. From the north and east, yes, but I could leave the southern starting point alone and mass everything on the bridge.
I guess the AI makes stuff a bit random. In Operation Longcloth, my evac was overrun all the time even though Kerensky struggled to make that impossible. So I guess there are wildcards with the AI behavior there.
