I see a lot of people saying they like light tanks in this scenario. Give the matilda a try. It'll plow through everything and almost none of the Japanese units can penetrate it so it is very cost effective. Once it gets to 5 star it murders everything. The churchill 7 are similarly great, especially if you upgrade to them from elite tanks. I was done with Impalah in 15 turns after they chewed through the entire Japanese force and captured the secondary objectives.

Yeah, I like light tanks. Fast, not so much CP cost. I went with my Crusaders till the very end. Mostly fits my playstyle here: Lots of lightinf, light AT, all no transport, but heavy arty. But if the Churchill is that great and imbalanced, there seems to be an issue. You have a replay you can post?

I would actually argue the opposite. If historically accurate scenario is not challenging enough I am absolutely fine with reducing historical accuracy in favour of more interesting gameplay. For example, in the US Pacific campaign I find the last few scenarios extremely easy. My ground, air and naval forces are almost completely unchallenged especially naval and air. I would really appreciate that these scenarios would feature more fictional elements. Give the Japanese Tiger tanks, jet fighters and heck even an auxiliary Russian navy (alter scenario where Russia teamed up with Japan at the end of the war) to make it more challenging.

I think it's a much better alternative than historically accurate, but easy and boring scenario.

I think it is better to "weaken" the player's strength - by less RPs and CPs or more difficult maps, and keep the historical realities than "artificially" create difficulties by deploying fantastic elements.
This leads to absurdity.
If developers decided to settle their game in such reality like II World War, they have to balance historical accuracy with the appropriate level of difficulty :!:

Sure. I technically won on turn 17 on reviewing it, and with a 1k surplus of points. Where are replays stored?

By playing, for example, Germans or Americans, or even Japanese, we can build our army to maintain historical accuracy. Unfortunately, we have no influence on what equipment our opponent has.
Despite all this, OoB is my favorite game. :wink:

You should be asked after winning whether you want to save a recording / replay not. If you click yes, it should show up under replays in the save menu. They should be in your game files. Upload in zip format.

I'm aware and I did save it, I just don't know where it is saved to. I see a bunch of crashfiles in the main game directory under steamapps/common/, but no replays.

Anyone else notice that the bomber stream specialization mentioned in the previews does not appear in the game?

Finally got around to finishing the campaign, and must say it (the latter half) was quite a disappointment.

Way too few units to pick from with quite often only one viable choice to pick.

Also didn´t feel I got much out of the specialisations that I had looked forward to the most (lend/lease, advanced aeronautics and Hobarts funnies).

Also the last 3 campaigns was way too easy even on the hardest difficulty.

And as always too few scenarios for a campaign spanning the entire 4 year theater.

Some fun scenarios along the way and for the price I cant really complain, but I would rather pay twice as much for more content and replayability.

Well, it was the Allies who rationalized their equipment into a few efficient types. And the Wehrmacht who drowned in a flurry of types and variants. So you might have to wait for the continuation of Blitzkrieg.

You mastered them all on the highest difficulty? Whoa.
To be honest, I could go for longer, more expensive DLCs with more missions, more units and so on as well. But there obviously are bills to be paid and a schedule to be kept. Artistic freedom is awesome, but this is just a niche market.

Anyways, there is always a next DLC in the pipeline and I think it will be even more awesome.

As mentioned in another thread I was also quite dissapointed with the amount of secondary objectives, and especially the awards for completing the ones that were there. Mostly specialisations points, and as mentioned above there wasn´t much exitement in the available specialisations.

Without secondary objectives the missions dont pose much diversity.

I did see a few tiger tanks, so maybe there could also be more Allied units to choose from.

I´m afraid it will continue to be a niche market if it isn´t expanded in some way. By this I mean some kind of continued campaing like PC's Grand Campaigns.

There were only Grants and early Shermans in Burma in 1944-45, so the number of tanks (for example) is much higher than in reality.
Personally, I think there are too many types of equipment (I think mainly of the Japanese army) for this theater of warfare.
Burma was a place, where the best and the most modern equipment was not found.
The difficulty level is too low because there are far too many RPs available before each of the last 3 missions.

New to OOB but am enjoying it. Reading some posts, 40 more pages to go, and (I don’t know the difficulty factor to do this) but maybe an options to have the AI’s army to have a game setting or a more historical set-up pertaining to it’s available equipment?

As I said, there are things in the pipeline and with more DLCs coming up, the possibility to link them and get a long Grand Campaign will be possible. I think you will like it.
