Order Of Battle - v5.2.9 - Open Beta

Post by Shards »

UPDATED to 5.2.9

Hi,

We've made a new patch for Order of Battle available as an opt-in Open Beta on Steam.

Changelist:
  • Battle of Britain mod compatibility fixed
  • Snow effects on attacker and defender on some terrain types corrected
  • Fixes bug that could cause all units' strength or experience to be reduced in certain scenarios
  • Fixes to Panzerkrieg scenarios Kharkov, Operation Zvezda/Star, Voronezh and Stalingrad
  • Missing sharp turns in railroad textures added
  • Fixed a bug in the Field Medics specialization that could prevent importing a core force from the Boot Camp into the US Pacific campaign.
  • Several unit stats tweaked or fixed (Flammpanzer III, Il-2M3, T34 series, Ki-15, ...)
  • Missing destroyed textures added for Bohler 47mm gun and 20mm Flak 36.
  • Added 41-45 versions of the "canoe version" of the British SBS units.
  • Disbanding aircraft inside a hangar will now corrected change the strength points of that hangar - or remove it entirely.
  • Core units can only be disbanded if they have not yet moved or attacked in the current turn
  • Texts in campaigns fixed for non-English languages

    5.2.8
  • Missing railroad links fixed
  • Rising Sun, Guadalcanal scenario missing event picture added
  • US Pacific, Leyte campaign fix for Japanese fleet spawning
  • Panzerkrieg scenario fixes now actually implemented in patch
  • Fixed bug where music would not play
  • SIDE-EFFECT - This required an update to the base engine, which means that Hex Grids can now appear underwater in a visually unappealing way. We're trying to figure this one out!
  • Fixed the duplication of Specialisation units
  • US and Japanese Marines now also have a 1 turn supply stash (Soviet Marines already had this)
5.2.9
  • Shader fixes
  • Waffen SS II description fixed to reflect its effect
  • Tweaks to some unit costs and stats
Please note that this is an in-development version so you are advised to create a backup copy of your local save files and options (Found in Documents/My Games/Order of Battle - WWII)

To activate the beta, do the following:
  • Right Click on the Order of Battle game name in your Steam Library
  • Select Properties and then the Betas Tab
  • Select "openbeta" from the drop-down menu
Steam will then automatically update your files. To opt back out of the beta, do the above but select the "Default" option.

Also, please note that this version does not support PBEM matches as it could cause conflicts with other users.

We have made this available on Steam and PC only initially, just for speed of deployment and ease of testing. If everything is okay with this beta then we will have a full suite of updates available soon.

Thanks!

Nice. Hopefully this is in there even though it's not on your list:

Sadly not. Most of the fixes are data errors, that's something else in the Shader code that Adherbal hasn't found a quick fix for...

I have noticed right away that there is no music at all, neither in menu nor in missions.

Has the development of the campaign editor still not finished yet? It's badly needed to create custom content!

;) Just to give you guys a heads up, the Beta patch did not seem to be fixing at least the problem in operation Star. The mission is still ending at turn 10 (that is, starting the mission from the overview screen before the mission). Also there is indeed no music.

@all: Won't be able to test this til the weekend. Maybe not even then. Any other bugs still in there, apart from what Nightphoenix reported?
@adherbal, shards, bebro: You did rebalance the Panzerkrieg campaign, right? Can you post a list of fixes / rebalancing things? Not just general "fixes to missions". I dont want to miss out on my next playthrough of Panzerkrieg.

There are a few Alliances missing from the Editor it seems

There's no way, that I can see, to add Red Team, Blue Team nor the Sun Burst variant of Imperial Japan?

Second image at that link shows the nations in one of the Morning Sun scenarios

Hi - did you play from an older save? Any scenario changes would only come into play if you use a save from *before* the scenario you play.

So best is to use a campaign-save (where you see the *campaign map*) before you change to the scenario.

Do you mean that by "overview screen"? Hint - if you started with the *briefing* of the mission (where you see the *mission map,* changes will not come into effect.

I think this is intended as a kind of faction clean-up.
I've seen this the last couple of updates.
You need to remove the no-editor tag from the factions.txt

I would prefer to have all factions available in the editor as default.
It is often very useful when designing a scenario.

Sorry, yes this is what i meant with the overview screen. I loaded the game from a save which is on the same screen that you would see if you loaded a campaign-save (with the large map of Europe and everything). I can provide an auto-save from the last turn of that mission if this is helpful, i have a few saves from playing in the beta. (They are all from operation Star though)

Here is the auto-save from turn 10 of the mission with the game i started from the campaign screen. If you end the turn it will end the mission too.
