Div D
Morbio (Syracuse) defeats Peterabb (Macedonian) 57-31
It ended on the final turn when a lancer units that was mobbed by Cavalry, irregular foot, LH, and hoplites final broke on about the 4th round of melee. On another part of the battlefield there were 4 pike phalanxes in square formation all surrounded by hoplites, as time was running out the hoplites attacked and eventually broke one of the squares after about 3 or 4 rounds being attacked by 5 hoplite units. At one point there were so many squares I thought my Syracuse army had transported to Waterloo! Luckily this wasn't the case

MikeC_81 is off on family 'vacation'
I am unfortunately going to be out of action for about 8 to 9 days starting tomorrow evening........Sadly I did not manage to obtain any affliction which would get me excused from this one.
I have 2 active games in each division I am in and those are nearing completion so there is only really 2 more games in each division left to start and finish for when I get back. Shouldn't be an issue in terms of getting it all done by mid August. So don't cancel my games

Re: The half-way Time Control thread (July 6th)
Today I have sent PM's to all the players on the current list who are showing 0 or 1 result posted in any division, and to those who appear on the list in more than one section. I am also talking to a player who may be dropping a couple of divisions due to personal circumstances. So there are going to be some changes. I have around half a dozen reserves ready to step in at short notice.

Division C, Round 6
harveylh (Germanic Horse Tribes 260-492AD) beat Ulysisgrunt (Romans 285-378AD) 45-5
This is a tough matchup for the Romans. The Roman infantry were cautious in their advance and that allowed the Germanic cavalry to beat the Roman cavalry wing before the Roman infantry could significantly affect the battle.

Division D
harveylh (Ptolemaics) beats Peterabb (Macedonians) 50-24
Conservative deployment by the Macedonians allowed the Ptolemaics to put pressure on both flanks and occupy a key hill in the center of the battle lines. However the Macedonians counterattack was fierce and the game was much closer than the score indicates.

Division B, Round 5
Nijis (Romans 105-25BC) beat nyczar (Romans 105-25BC) 46 to 71
Nyczar fielded a more maneuverable army, took ruthless advantage of my mistakes, flanked me, and made no mistakes that I could see myself. I opted to max out on top-line infantry though, and in the end the slugfest in the middle was all that mattered.

Division D
harveylh (Ptolemaics) beats Tresantes (Bosporans) 45-6
Not a good matchup for the Bosporans. The Bosporan infantry were cautious (however the Ptolemaics line of pikes did look formidable) and did not advance to support their cavalry wing until it was too late.

Re: Season 2 Tournament diary and news
Okie has withdrawn from Late Antiquity and Enemies of Rome due to a "real life" situation. Any matches completed with Okie in these two sections are void under FOG2DL rules as he has not completed 3 matches. Any matches in progress with Okie in these two sections are also void. He will be continuing in Classical Antiquity and From Zhou to Chen but there may be a delay for a week or so. nobbynobbs will replace Okie in Late Antiquity and melm will replace him in Enemies of Rome.
Edit: I have notified everyone in Enemies of Rome and their tables and charts have been altered. I will make the changes to Late Antiquity later on today.

A message for players in Division C
Okie has withdrawn from this section and he will be replaced by melm. Any matches that were completed against Okie are now void because he has not completed 3 matches (Rule 6).
