Two results to report
Cilician Gates
Romans(Edmund_Blackadder) 35/56 vs Parthians (iandavidsmith) 68/68
Edmund 10.0
iandavidsmith 6.3
A hard fought battle where the dice were against the Parthians. Ventidius Bassus's died early, but the Romans ignored him, The Labienus's (Parthian) Roman duly arrived and then they stopped to shoot it out which started to be effective. Left with no choice but to attack, the Romans charged down the hill and somehow got the better of it. Thanks for the game Ian.

Forum Gallorum
Mark Anthony(Edmund_Blackadder) 22/40 vs Senate (Enakan) 57/56
Edmund 10.2
Enakan 5.5
The Senate's first command broke quickly, so Mark Anthony and his auxiliaries left the legions to it and sprinted back to the enemy markers in the rear. This tactic seemed to work well as with the markers gone, they could prevent the reinforcements using their double move, allowing the returning legions to take up an advanced position. One of those rare occasions when a plan actually works! Thanks for the game Paul.

Final result and a really close and enjoyable game.
Forum Gallorum
Mark Anthony(allendeuce) 41/40 vs Senate (Edmund_Blackadder) 55/56
Edmund 10.2
allendeuce 9.8
The battle ran to plan for both sides with Mark Anthony taking an early lead. Jim wisely broke off an auxiliary and Mark Anthony to take out the rear markers, but Hirtius's men just had time to deploy. After that it was a legion slugfest with the fresher troops initially gaining ground, with the added oddity that Pansa survived to the end and Hirtius died at first contact. In terms of points to break it went 13:10 - 8:7 4:1 (including a fortuitous rally) and finally 1:1. Eventually, a win by a single point where the winners had 3 units on less than 50% including 2 on 46%. Possible the closest game I have played that wasn't a draw. Thanks for the game Jim and well played you deserved at least a draw.

Round 10: The Rhine legions

The Rhine frontier was the most important battleground in the early Principate. The legions of the Rhine were powerful and their commanders influential. In the early common era, they waged relentless campaigns against the Germanic tribes and in 69, they proclaimed their own emperor and marched against Rome.

---------------------------------
Angrivarian Wall 16 AD

After the disaster of the Teutoberg Forest in 9 AD, the Romans retaliated in a series of large and bloody campaigns. The Germans wisely avoided a major confrontation until the year 16 when they gave battle at Idistaviso and were routed off the field. They regrouped and turned to face the Romans again at the Angrivarian Wall but this time stayed in the forest cover. Germanicus, eager to finish them off, attacked into the difficult terrain.

*While striving to take out as many Roman markers as possible, the main German battlegroup should stay in the forest and wait for the Roman assault. They stand no chance in the open against the superior legions.

Bedriacum 69 AD

After the death of Nero, the Roman world erupted in civil war. The Rhine legions proclaimed Vitellius emperor who sent a powerful host to Italy. From Rome came the forces of emperor Othon. They collided at Bedriacum in northern Italy.

*Both wings of the Vitellians were victorious while in the middle the vicious fighting between the Othonian Praetorians and the Vitellian I “Italica” legion was only settled when the Batavians slammed into the Praetorian flank. Watch out for the Batavians!

Challenge up ...

Enakan - Bedriacum - pw civilwar

(Enakan, you realise that, if you lose, you'll be required to stab yourself in the heart like Emperor Otho did. It seems harsh I know, but historical authenticity is very important to me.) :D

Maybe assisted suicide and remorse? I'm more of a seppuku style of death myself! A little bit of pain, then nothing......besides, the way to a man's heart is through his tummy! At least that's what the women say!!! :D :D :D
