Lifever forget about these unimportant things. Let's finally fight! The champion must fight and think less about regalia. Members of our community are waiting for the show, so let's show them the real battle.
I know you are good person but i want to know how really champion strong. I gonna to test your level! :D

My thoughts on the Tournament 2018

Post by goose_2 »

All right...time to get off the sidelines so to speak. ;)

I am hopeful the powers that be will rectify the lack of avatars, quickly. As it has been a long time in coming.

I also like the idea of all the top ten participants getting a discount on Panzer Corps 2, when it comes out.

(No hurry though, I would rather they get it right the first time then try and fix on the back end.)

I think that the time effort and promotion that Lifever gave this tournament should be rewarded with a free copy of the game, and a 75% discount for 2nd, 50% for the 2 3rd Place winners, 30% for the 2 4th Place, and 15% off for the remaining 4 5th Place winners.

That brings the loyalist players an incentive to promote and advocate for the new game and for their efforts in an extremely long and taxing Tournament.

Please weigh in Slitherine, because the silence is saying more than it should.

FYI, it seems the Slitherine team got new icons/avatars beginning of this week:

So just as a thought: maybe they are still working on the others as well... :D

Wow this paints an even bleaker picture of the situation. What an egregious misappropriation of design resources and highly disrespectful to our 2018-2019 champion.

Well, sorry for sharing this observation, I just felt this additional information/fact could give a more complete picture…

Anyways, I am generally positive and I don't expect bad intentions (by default), so while I agree the delay is a pity, maybe they are just too busy with PzC 2 at the moment. I am not even sure they had the time to watch the video yet, who knows…

If you try that hard, you lose out on the effect of irony. Less is more.

Most effective is good timing with little effort - look at my last post and the next answer in context.
You get it? Zero effort, good result, perfect efficiency.

Don't bother.

They know and they do what companies always do until the water reaches their nostrils. Will elaborate in the future maybe. ;)

Just enjoy what part of the game you like... and have a good time.
Thanks for trying!

Appreciate you putting yourself in the doghouse potentially. I know you gain nothing here. Well - or you realize what could have been and was wasted.

More activity in the yt commentary section than here speaks volumes. Same as guys who try to bring down the only shot they got to move this genre anywhere.

It's sad news for somebody who tries to do something. That's normal; just frustrating when you encounter it for the first time. It wears off.
Focus on the positive aspect and don't care for the rest.
That's the easiest way.
Not the champs way though.

You wrote me a pm, so here's my official answer:

The champ is done fighting. One year was enough.
The chest of gold promised was an empty toilet (at least empty - somebody dumped on the participants though), so the champ entered a phase of love and peace.
If you practice love, anybody can win the biggest prize. ;)

Isn't this the perfect analogy to a so called wargame?
No matter your exploits or medals - in the end there's only scorched earth and nothing to win at all.

As mentioned Alberto of Slitherine asked me after the tourney to take the official Slitherine twitch account.
His idea was to start a weekly show as the one champ to rule over all brand franchises.

My answer was: I am hard pressed on time and lost a lot of steam in the last tourney rounds, but very much appreciate the trust put into me. After all I wanted to be the champ to do something with it. He asked me to think about it.

Then absolutely nothing happened for weeks, which is why the above happened.

My choice regarding twitch for Slitherine under these circumstances had been made.

Still I wanted to see how it could look if I am on air one hour without any "script" beforehand. It's a challenge and that's always intriguing.

It's split up so it makes the most sense, starting with the final clip:

Thank you for answer.

And as for the video advice i make the screenshots at the end of every turn for important matches.
That a little better than simple notes to designate something on them.

You could take video footage too.

Screenshots or videos don't tell a story. A story helps to get back in the game.
Simple words bring back the feeling of the game. Reading an opponents mind is where the real thrill starts for me.

My notes often read like
"xx overestimates his armor -> give him openings to counterattack: he will mess up"
or
"positioning mistake south on river -> weakness or slipup? -> find out!"

Such thoughts pass away over days, but stay precise on paper. I don't need to re-evaluate days after - working through screens.
I have it right in front me and go straight back to work.

---

Regards to the Russian community.
They made this tournament special in the middle part and I will remember that little obsession when most is forgotten. :)

Agreed, in addition taking notes also helps against the AI on bigger maps like Battlefield Europe where you have multiple theaters of operation and you might not be able to finish the scenario in a few days or weeks as it has 99 turns...
