And no practice so far, but I have plan :) Seems to be a rough battle though, with Axis having a huge advantage in planes, ships, artillery, tanks and prestige. Moreover it is quite narrow, so being sneaky is easier said than done, because it is easy to have vision across the entire front line.

Streets of Moscow will follow probably on Sunday. I do not want to get too far ahead, because Lt. joker is still working on stuff for the next discussion video.

Yes, let's schedule for the same time 4:30 am my time, I do not remember when that is for you.

I bet I could show you a few things with me as the Allies, do you want to switch roles just for this battle.

Me play the Allies and you play the Axis so you can see a few things you may not have considered?

No thanks I learn most by trying things and failing. Just seeing it, is not the same and I really do not mind losing. I only get frustrated when things go so wrong there is nothing to be learned from. Like in France. Well, I learned something there, but after the first turns it was finished and the rest pointless.

Streets of Moscow

Post by braccada »

2 December 1941 - Despite the protests of the Generalfeldmarschall, High Command has endorsed my decision and has sent corresponding orders! Our task is to push past the outskirts of Moskow and occupy the Soviet capital! Based on pre-war intelligence of the city, it was determined that in order to successfully control Moscow, several key locations must be secured. There are seven districts in all, including the one we currently control. In addition to my mission to gain control of all these districts, our orders include securing the Kremlin itself, a postion that will undoubtedly prove to be an extremely well fortified part of the city. We have not received any intelligence on the composition on the newly arrived Soviet Far East forces, so we must be prepared to face any possibility.

Braccada... I will not be able to play this Saturday, I forgot I am going to be gone all weekend with my wife for a little mini vacation, but I could bust out same time Friday morning, instead of Saturday Morning? Or just wait until next week?

What are your thoughts on the next map?

The Dneiper is super fun
Ruingrad would be good but takes a little while for the boomies to set up, but once it gets going, it gets pretty intense.

Or we could try something completely different with something like Bocage Breakout?

8 February 1942 - While the rain and now the snow have paralyzed our efforts, our enemy has stolen the initiative and launched a counter offensive! How these Soviets still have reserves left after our previous victories mystifies me, but htey must be dealt with!
My forces have been relocated to Demanysk. High Command plans to launch our new offensive from this staging ground and I have been ordered to hold this position at all costs! While we were marshaling our forces here, it seems the Soviets have cut us off from the rest of our lines. I have been assured though, that our glorious Luftwaffe will be supplying my forces from the air.
My mission is to hold the lines around Demansk and protect the supply airfields from advancing Soviet forces. The vast majority of these attacks will be coming from the East, so I have to prepare my initial defense accordingly.

20 March 1942 - We must defeat the Soviet winter offensive and resume our advance into Russia! Despite our impressive gains from last years's Operation Barbarossa, we failed to achieve our ultimate goal of defeating the Soviet Union. Oir intitial advances have been stalled by weather and harassed by seemingly endless formations of enemy troops!
In order to stabilize our lines, my first task is to oversee the withdrawl to Vitebsk. The only way to ensure the success of this mission is to maintain an open rail line straight south to Vitebsk so that our convoys can safely be evacuated! To that end, it will be my responsibility to escort at least four convoy units south of the Dvina River. I am warned that Soviet units have been spotted interfering with our rail lines, so I must clear these forces first to ensure save and speedy travel for our convoys. Additionally we except fierce attacks from both the west and the east as Soviet Siberian reinforcements press their assault forward!

Kharkov 42

10 May 1942 - It is here that I must finally crush the Soviet offensive so that our forces can prepare for summer operations. My taks is to hold at against the oncoming Soviet troops and if the opportunity presents itself to go on the counter offensive. To help in my operations four additional panzer units have been placed under my command. Based on intelligence reports I should expect two large formations of Soviet ground forces to advance from the Southeast towards Kharkov, followed by a possible third formation in a few days.

2 June 1942 - Before Fall Blau can begin, High Command has ordered that the Crimean peninsula and the vital Black Seas port of Sevastopol be secured. While Soviet amphibious operations have retaken parts of the peninsula during the past few month, we are confident that you will be able to complete your taks well in advance of Fall Blau beginning at the end of this month. My first mission is to secure all aaproaches to Sevastopol by seizing at least four objectives. Accomplishing this will effectively cut off Sevastopol from the land, sea and air! If at all possible, however, you should strive to secure all of your objectives and to protect the siege artillery units Karl and Gustav.

There is a failed attempt for Lt. Joker and me on this one :) If you want to see that:

Sevastopol Assault

Post by braccada »

24 June 1942 - The time has come to once and for all secure Sevastopol and the Black Sea from our enemies. My objective is to occupy Sevastopol and to destroy all four of the Soviet forts, they have been reinforced with additional concrete defenses and armed with naval artillery! Fortunately though, my past success has allowed us to fully prepare the Gustav rail gun and the Karl siege mortar and they are both at my disposal and ready to reduce those Soviet fortifications to piles of rubble! Intelligence reports reveal that although the Soviets have only a handful of aircraft to defend Sevastopol, they also have called upon the remnants of their Black Sea Fleet to help in their defense. So I am well advised to launch my assault with heavy air support that inculdes some anti-naval assests.

15 August 1942 - Our forces will soon be coming upon the Volga River and Stalingrad. The importance of this manufacturing and transportation hub cannot be underestimated! Because of the nature of Stalingrad's layout along the banks of the Volga, High Command has determined that a frint assault is going to be the most effective strategy. Before this can begin though, we must capture the Don River bend and sever all northern approaches to Stalingrad. I doing so I should expect heavy enemy armored and air resistance from the newly formed Stalingrad Front comprised of two armies. In addition to my primary objective, there is another mattre I should be aware of. Intelligence reports have intercepted communications that seem to imply something is going on at the outskirts of Stalingrad. We aren't exactly sure what this is, but if possible, I shall send a recon force to investigate!
