Hey I am sorry for late response. I have had a busy last couple of days. I thought I had a saved replay but all I had was my end of scenario save. I did win with a decisive victory. I am going to replay the scenario and try to give a day by day play through.

You actually did set up battlegroups all around Bastogne. I only had units in northwest, west and south. It seems you have more ground units and I have more airplanes. I can't adjust it either cause I put down all my land units even weak garbage units like a KV-2 gift from Russia and a Panther that somehow always gets jacked right away and retreats out of battle with like 2 or 3 hitpoints left to sit it out on the sidelines. I think it is weak cause its leaders that don't give useful bonuses.
Most probably your ground unit preponderance gives you a big advantage in this. I tended to focus a lot on airforce cause I don't like my units getting bombed by the deadly Intruders for like 6 points of damage on average.

You have very strong Southeast units like 5 high power tanks. For SE, I only have 1 normal Tiger and 3 or 4 infantry.
Do you overstrength your units?
I only had 2 infantry units overstrengthed to 13 and everything else just at 10.

I only keep tanks when I get SE units. I do over strength my SE units to 12 and all of my artillery to 12. I count the StuG IVs as artillery. I will admit to two cheats in that play through. At the selection scenario starting 42/43 west the small core that you are allowed to bring forward caused me great pain. My solution was to use the all eqp cheat and cherry pick which tanks would be SE. I only brought the max of 4 but I made both of the gifted hero tanks from earlier SE and brought the 2 best of my other SE tanks. My other cheat was at the start of the 44 campaign to reload the opening scenario and till I got that fifth SE tank. I knew that once the SE Me 109 came I had no chance to receive.

I am now playing through both 42 east and 42/43 west on Rommel with out using this cheat and do not really believe there is a difference for me. Unit experience is a much bigger factor. Each unit type gets a different boost based on experience in combat. For example the antitank class gets double the attack bonus for each level of experience. A 3 star unit gets +6 on attack. Much bigger deal in my opinion. Also why I like StuG IV and StuH 42 so much, I can level him experience wise fast as artillery then exploit bonus when using as antitank. Cheaper than tanks and have dual role.

Also I have learned on my own and from others, you really can’t bring enough artillery. I bring a small Air Force because I have found that is all I need and a large Air Force cripples my ground game. I generall y sale all the gifted captured equipment and by something with it more usefull
