Re: Erik's Multiplayer scenarios

Post by codem »

Hi Erik,

Been playing the Scandinavia scenario for some time.... and I feel there are way too many British ships. I do understand that Great Britain was a naval superpower in WWII, but that navy was spread through out the world. Also many of the naval units that were in homeland waters were busy in the Atlantic trying to figure out away to stop the the u-boat attacks on shipping..... though.. perhaps this was more in 1940 then 1939.

I do like the idea of the line to stop how far the British ships can go.... however, I don't know how to justify the reason why th British would stop there.... especially if they are chasing down the remaining German ships to sink. But I do like the idea because otherwise there is no way for the German's to hold any of the coastal cities because the British navy would bombard them to death.

If we want to leave the Navies as they are, I would suggest increasing the number of German Air Units because they did have a lot of concentrated air power early in the war. Increasing the number of units would represent that doctrine that Germany used to focus their air power instead having it spread out.

Kind Regards,
Codem

The Royal Navy was allowed to operate as far south as Stavanger on the SE Norwegian coast. The scenario allows them a little more leeway.
I am considering triggering a withdrawal of a (large) number of RN units if Scharnhorst and/or Gneisenau is exited out into the Atlantic in the NW corner. This was the historical Kriegsmarine plan.
Also giving the Luftwaffe more Ju87 units is plausible (they're the only ones that can hurt enemy ships).

2v1 Salerno to Rome 1.0

2v1 Salerno to Rome 1.0

44 turns (weekly turns), large map, small to medium number of units (at least at start).
Mostly free deployment of land and naval units. Air units will start in their hangars.
I've created a challenge with me as the Germans. No password. The objective is mostly to test play balance.
The other players will naturally take the US and British along with a host of minor nations.

2vAI Operation Varsity

2vAI Operation Varsity

Operation Varsity was a successful airborne forces operation launched by Allied troops that took place toward the end of World War II. Involving more than 16,000 paratroopers and several thousand aircraft, it was the largest airborne operation in history to be conducted on a single day and in one location.

This is a cooperative UK/British scenario against the German AI.

I have created a couple of "challenges" if anyone wants to test this.

1v1 Double Eagle-Rising Sun 1904-05

Here's a pretty experimental scenario. The whole of the Russo-Japanese war of 1904-05.
I thought it would be interesting to see how OOB fared quite a distance from WW2.

The scenario starts with the Japanese surprise attack against the Russian main fleet at Port Arthur, the only port available all year round.
This attack looks like a template for Pearl Harbor, but with different tools.
Then the war turned into a regular land war until the Japanese annihilated the reinforcing Russian European fleet which came a long way just to be sunk.

I have created a couple of challenges if anyone wants to test this.

Erik, I just moved your post from the Announcements thread to Custom Multiplayer Scenarios. The link goes to page 1 here in this thread, as it should, and the file download link works but the link itself is labeled "Double Eagle-Rising Sun (1946 2v2)"?

Fixed, thank you.
