At present there are 5 fixed pairs of specialisations to choose from during the campaign. I wonder if would be possible to increase the pool of the specialisations available in the game (e.g. 14 or 16 instead of the current 10) and have two them randomly selected at any decision point.
Potentially this will make each campaign a bit different based on which couple of specialisations you pick up at any decision point.
Thanks
That's a good suggestion. Presently, however, the specialisations offered in a campaign are set by the designer. What you suggest would require a new game feature. The developers read these forums so your idea may come to fruition someday.

Yes, good suggestion, maybe except the random part, although that could be fun also if there was a good balance between the random ones and the chosen ones. It shouldn´t "ruin" a campaign that you got the wrong one.

I posted about the lack of diversity and replayability regardings specs a long time ago.

As it is now, you basically always get all specs at some point in every campaign. It would be more fun IMO if there were a few more to pick from and you just couldn´t get them all in every campaign. Better for replayability for there to actually be a choice about what you want instead of just when you want it (adjusted for availability date of course).

Well, this much is achievable now by the designer merely restricting the amount of specialisation points that he awards throughout the campaign.

Yes, but that would be detracting from the game and not improving it.

Good thinking mate, as being "locked into" campaigns is one reason I don't like them much because we're often straitjacketed and at the mercy of the campaign structure..;)

This of course is not true at all and is getting old, Spike. :? The only "mercy" is that you have a set order to play the scenarios. It is also the most logical order.

Now what is odd with op's suggestion is that he is talking about the original release of the game (Order of Battle - Pacific, April 2015). Back then you had five fixed pairs of specialisations to choose from during the campaign. A new specialisation system (still in use) was introduced almost three years ago, in Sept 2016.

Plus he posted the same statements, word for word, here and under a different but equally brand-new alias. I reported this to the authorities as possibly being H.Balck, fishing for inside knowledge of how specialisations work in the official version of the game, but they think there might be a different explanation. In any event, both OP accounts are now on the radar.

I must have misunderstood mate, Bru said- "..the specialisations offered in a campaign are set by the designer", so that looks like being at the mercy of the designer to me..:)

Re OP, I'm not sure many ppl would like the "randomly selected" part and still rather select specs on their own.

Isn't everything in the game set by the designer? So why single out one feature?
